Having played NBA Jam, this is a very unexciting take on arcade basketball. It just feels so slow and boring to play after coming from Jam and I'm baffled at the fact there's going to be a sequel. The announcers are not interesting, the roster is padded out by a bunch of streamer personalities I've never heard nor care for, and you have to grind to open up the remainder of the official roster. Kudos for not including microtransactions though.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game. There are some serious faults that arise once you enter the second half of the game. The main issues at hand are as follows:

-The Floating Continent's Jungle Boss has a swinging arm attack that does not telegraph its range well.
-The Molten Floating Continent's enemy gauntlet takes place above a lava pit (instant death) with solid platforms. There's an unfair mechanic I've only witnessed here where if an enemy latches onto Otus, you will drop through the platform. This doesn't happen anywhere else and makes the presence of the platforms redundant. It would make more sense if the platforms deteriorate after Otus is slammed against them once.
-Mesos' boss is trial-and-error when it comes to figuring out its trajectory. The sequence that follows after its defeat needlessly messes with your controls.
-The upgrade trinkets are uninteresting and do not really provide any substantial benefit. Three of them boost health (useful, but boring), three of them are COSMETIC HATS THAT ARE LOST UPON HIT (and you can't even recover them if they fall off!), Geddy's range upgrade is lackluster, Alphonse would be better off with a cooldown for his attack, and Twig gets...nothing.
-The final upgrade that provides a worthwhile use requires playing quite possibly the WORST minigame ever: the Boguin Cannon. What you deal with there involves unexpected, incredibly frustrating physics-based controls not seen elsewhere, lack of quick restarts, and the inability to progress despite making failures. While I do get that the last upgrade provides a major boost, it should not be so aggravating to the point that one should resort to CHEATING (by way of keyboard macros) to get it. I've dealt with some absurd stuff in videogames before but this is on the level of Super Mario Sunshine's broken pachincko level.

Me and my friend were ready to sink a few hours into this but we suddenly lost all interest when we saw the game splits the screen four ways in local co-op. This was intentional and it, naturally, made the playing areas much smaller when playing on a big TV screen. May revisit someday on my own but I know it won't be as fun.

I'm going to echo what another user said in their review: this is not a beat-matching game. Although the incoming arrows go with the rhythms of the soundtrack, your input does not. This can really throw you off if you're used to matching your inputs to the music as one would expect from a rhythm game. In addition, this is not conveyed to you at any time as there is no tutorial or instructions provided.

The direction of the incoming arrows is also misleading as they don't "fit" into the middle diamond, making it rather misleading. I think the game could also benefit from color-coding arrows that have varied speeds. This would improve things but I would have much preferred beat-matching input gameplay overall.

The far superior offering this year from Sega, soundly outdoing Sonic Forces. Cheaper, replayable, and, most importantly, enjoyable. As someone who sunk countless hours into the Genesis and Sega CD games, this is a worthy successor to them and should be seen as the true "Sonic 4".

Oh, and Denuvo can go to hell.

Really for the most hardcore Isaac: Rebirth/Afterbirth players out there. Initially doesn't come off as a significant addition like Afterbirth but AB+ is good if you just need more item synergies/interactions and eking out any last bit of challenge.

It would be a disservice to reveal any details about this game. Seriously, go in blind but be ready for an R-rated experience.

A straightforward visual novel that's strong on story, very light on actual gameplay. 95% of this game will be spent reading the entertaining plot while what little game there is amounts to drag-and-dropping correct ingredients to mix drinks (you are not timed so no quick reflexes needed and the game generously allows infinite attempts to create drinks with no penalty). There is a slight puzzle factor in that you're going to want to note what's being said in the dialog (such as the drinker's preferences or a particular piece of history behind a drink) so you will need to pay attention despite some things being said seem innocuous at first.

In terms of replayability, you could potentially give patrons their requested order on the first playthrough (though, if prompted, give them their preferred drink to meet ending requirements). On the second playthrough, booze them up on Karmotrine (the "alcohol" ingredient) every chance you get to receive some revealing dialogue. There isn't anything like branching paths or affecting your relationship with certain characters here though.

Still, for what the game offers, most folks should enjoy the story presented. The soundtrack is no slouch either.

As much as I'd like to say something about the gameplay itself, the game has such poor optimization. It's to the point where it used to run on my setup then, when returning to the game about a year a later, the game will either refuse to boot or crash on trying to load the game world.

It's stylish, it's action-packed, and it most certainly will require some skill to get through. Bayonetta is well known for its gameplay and this port breathes new life into the game. Runs flawlessly at max settings on my system, which is a very good thing as I almost always do not endorse buying games on day one. But seeing as Sega and Platinum not only pulled off the port well (at least on Intel systems) and generously offered the game at a budget price, I do not hesitate in recommending this game.
