Easily one of my favorite games of all time, Risk of Rain brings fast paced platform shooting to rogue-like with an abundance of items and power-ups, each with a nearly unique ability. Survive in a good run with an arsenal of upgrades, and luck, or perish in a bad one, with only your base damage and skills by your side. Either way, the game has great replayability with multiple maps for each stage, as well as random placements. The time-scaling difficulty was also an amazing addition, reaching a point where you're fighting bosses as normal spawns. Even with it's "tough as nails" difficulty settings, it has lighter versions for beginners, or people just looking to collect hundreds of upgrades and absolutely destroy wave after wave of enemies. Even the steam achievements compared to the normal achievements did not include some of the more "hardcore" achievements, meaning anyone with a bit of time could get all of the steam achievements, but only those determined (or lucky) enough could get 100% of the in game achievements.
