Early Access Review
So I mean I guess to start positive the game looks nice, mostly, but I find the art direction very unfulfilling, whilst I can't always put my finger on it the game has this overriding feel of blandness to it that leaves me underwhelmed. The only time I ever really loved the visuals was in episode 5, as I have a dark and stormy rain and thunder fetish, almost kind of wish the entire game was like that but anyways.
The games Combat is tedious at the best of times, but not really for any one reason, more like a couple constantly compounding each other. Whilst some of the weapons are cool in concept they are incredibly bland in practice, its basically the doom arsenal with no pistol or fists, except incredibly unsatisfying.

The axes swing is way to slow, and because of how its swung it feels like the guy swinging it is trying to pretend its heavy and failing miserably.

The water staff sounds like someone sloshing water around in their mouth, and its animation is so bouncy it has no impact.

The satisfaction of a sword is hitting something with it which is why the soul blade thing... Fails miserably, its got another problem... but I'll get to it, all the weapons have this issue but its the worst with this one.

The trident is God awefully annoying to listen to, its zappy sounds are like nails on a chalk board.

The celestial claw is.... ignoring the fact its an overhyped RL is so bassy and quiet, its got no satisfying impact to its sound it feels rather pitiful.

The mace is this games only good weapon, so no need to complain about it.

and the eternum is a wet and underwhelming fart that boringly turns enemies into white dust.

All of the weapons with the exception of the Celestial claw and eternum (espeically the soul blade) suffer from this issue of their impact effects. Wehn an enemy is hit you want it to feel like you are hurting them, like you're piercing they're flesh, but in amid evil it just feels like all your attacks are just pinging off of them and doing nothing.
What hurts this games pacing the most I feel is you get all the weapons by episode 2, meaning it feels like this game plays all of its cards to early, this was a problem I had with dusk but tbh it feels even worse here due to how few weapons there actually are. I'm sure someone will say "BUT AWESREEK SOUL MODE MAKES IT SO THERE'S LIKE 14 WEAPONS!!!" No and here is why, they are all overpowered, meaning it doesn't matter which one you choose they all just melt enemies making it effectively a pull trigger to win mode, which is in and of itself rather dull.

Enemy types are... God awefully annoying in this game. For starters their stunn animations feel very slow and as if they are trying to replicate what I guess you would call realistic motion as of being hit by something, but it just makes it feel like you're doing very little to them. Their hitboxes are massive making them difficult to manuever around, some of their attacks are just flat out irritating (THOSE GOD FORSAKEN SPEARMEN FROM E5 LEON). But they all feel very spongey, even if they really aren't they feel like it, which I think comes from 1: the slow stunn animations and 2:the fact it feels like attacks just ping off of them.

But in my opinion the thing that truly cripples the enemies for me is the utter refusal to have enemies carry over between episodes. This game never feels like it escalates even if it does get more challenging, because rather than buidling up a memorable enemy roster that slowly introduces more and more tougher enemies, old weak enemies are replaced with new slightly stronger but still weak enemies. Meaning as soon as you might start to commit these enemies to memory and they might start to grow on you, they are dropped immediately 3 levels later. It does a grand disservice to them all and makes them all simply feel throwaway and disposable. Worse it means the game never is really allowed to throw something truly powerful at you, something that just 1 of could crush you.

The levels are underwhelming, I mean visually they look nice but they do nothing for me. I do hate those really claustrophobic paths that tucker you in with enemies who's attacks you can't hope to dodge, especially when its on platforming bits and any slight movements will see you falling off the edge.

and finally the bosses... some of them are good, but the bosses for episode 2,3, and 6, no... just no...
