Upon first launch of the game I was reaching 15-30 FPS in the empty map without having touched the graphics options. After tweaking the settings recommended by the developer and turning down most to medium-low I noticed a significant improvement. I would say it matches the performance I was getting in CS1. Even at these lower settings the game looks visually clean. Changing seasons are nice but with snow, it can be difficult to see the zoning grid along with the mouse cursor which I've lost several times behind the bright white.

Gameplay feels more refined than the previous game with a few exceptions. Upgrading roads to include bus lanes, tram lines, wider sidewalks, and so fourth feels clunky and some of the road features are missing from CS1. Tram lines either run on their own or on top of the road meaning you can't have a road with an exclusive tram lane. The game got rid of the node based network, which I actually enjoy. I felt that the original game forced the player into a grid optimized for maximum zoning coverage which gave cities a tired look. It is very easy in to make organic looking downtowns in CS2. The road tools can be a bit janky and the old zoning grid is still in use making it challenging to place zoning where you want it too. Overall, I think it is a step in the right direction but still needs improvement.

There are many improvements I will not go over as they can be found on more complete reviews but most of them are positive in my opinion.

Speaking from my experience alone with the higher than recommended specs, I enjoy playing the game in its current state. The game does feel like it took a serious content hit and as of this review I don't see any map editor or paradox workshop available.

Gameplay 8/10
Performance 4/10
Content 6/10
