I was first introduced to open world survival games through the popular game "The Forest", which I'm sure is a title many of the players looking to purchase or have played Green Hell have previously heard of played. The game looked just about similar to The Forest and shared several mechanics with the game, but that's where the similarities end.

You first drop into the story mode as Doctor Jake Higgins, a famous Anthropologist who published a book about his studies of a tribe called the Yabahuaca, along with your fiancee Mia Higgins. You're sent into an Amazonian rain forest. You both set up a camp and Mia heads out to the Yabahuaca tribe. About a month afterwards, you wake up to a worrying call from Mia, she's crying and wants you to come. Eventually, you lose contact with her and you have only 1 goal: find Mia. In my humble opinion, the story its wonderful, deep, and has great psychological impact.

Although Green Hell shares similarities with The Forest and other open world survival games, there's a reason there's "Hell" in the title of the game. The game is known for it's high difficulty, for a newcomer, even the easiest difficulty is enough to make you feel as if you're playing a hardcore game. I for one would say that you begin the game after dying, a lot (and trust me, you will). However, that's what makes the game more the fun and your progress in the story is always rewarded.

So, should you play Green Hell? If you've previously played open world survival games, I think you'd find Green Hell to be a good match for you. The game offers a wide variety of realistic survival aspects & techniques, as well as a very polished and detailed story.
