I NUTTED.

THE ATMOSPHERE THOUGH! This is a very unique experience and our first look at how Unrecord might feel.

It runs better than you can imagine despite its graphics. So far I was able to play in the forest map and the visibility is really bad and everything is too dark. The map really has some anti-aliasing issues as well. In the body bomb mode, you can plant the bomb as soon as you spawn which is ridiculous.

You might feel more comfortable with aiming and moving around if you lower the camera shake in the settings. Also, don't forget to turn down the gun sounds as well, for your own sake!

Fire soundtrack, buggy UI, and lobby system seem like an issue at the moment (it's either because everyone has to hit ready, or the UI is buggy as hell).

Not a bad launch but this feels more like a tech demo rather than a game, we'll see how it'll turn out.

Early Access Review
This game definitely deserves a chance, but not at the moment. People keep saying "Don't you see it says early access, you can't expect a full release" Well, all bugs aside, just because it says early access doesn't mean the game's core mechanics should be terrible / not working as intended. Inconsistent hitreg which also can lead to bullet sponge, unbelievably bad performance, nothing interesting to loot, AI either stands still or knows exactly where you are etc.

This game's not a Tarkov clone. I think it's safe to say that this game is Ghost Recon + Arma + Tarkov combined. The health system is heavily inspired by Tarkov, which is cool, the gunplay is okay, the audio is okay, and the atmosphere is nice but the ambient sound can be annoying. The game has a huge potential, devs seem interested and listen to the feedback that the community gives. Hopefully, a couple of months later it'll be in a better state. As of now, I'd not even recommend trying the game unless you have an RTX 4070 or a better GPU despite all of the issues I mentioned. Otherwise, you'll be experiencing what it feels like to have myopic astigmatism on top of the bad performance.

Edit

Helldivers 2 is a great example of how to ruin your own good game. The game lost a huge amount of its player base and will continue to lose unless they start to understand what the players want. There's no way that these are the same developers when the game first launched. Every update is a huge L for the game and its players, but a huge W for automatons and terminids. This game is getting more balance patches than many PvP games out there, and the amount of effort put into nonsense balancing in a PvE game is INSANE. It's nonsense because nerfing every gun and stratagem into the ground is not something you can call balancing. And what's the logic behind releasing a warbond -which is something you can get with real money if you don't wanna grind in the game- that has guns worse than the game's worst gun? So, if you paid for it, you got a new weapon that is WORSE than the game's worst weapon.

This game was so beautiful at launch despite its many issues. Now, it's just a game that you cannot enjoy if you know how it was back then. There's no way that you can at least get 50% of the fun when you had back then. This is how they ruined this game. Did you ever check the patch notes and realize something?

"Fire tornados have had their behavior changed, they should no longer feel like they actively respond to player movement, and should move more randomly."

"The unblock button should no longer disappear from the social menu."

"We have toned down the amount of heavily armored enemies like Bile Titans, Chargers on higher difficulties and instead spawn more hordes of smaller enemies, the difference should be quite noticeable and the amount should be at least 30% less than before during bug breaches."

Should? Are you guys not aware of what you code? You guys don't know what you're coding, really? Their biggest patch (01.000.400) is a patch where they were able to fix a small amount of their mistakes which they ruined before, multiple times. Don't get me wrong, it's a good step in the right direction but it's just not enough. And lots of people ignored the fact that these guys ruined this game but they were able to deliver us a "Hey guys, sorry we screwed and here's something that can fix our mistakes" patch and everyone forgot about the other patches, really? This community... Also worth mentioning is that every update causes more performance issues alongside new bugs, plus the bugs that have still not been fixed since THE LAUNCH of the game.

I just can't anymore. Thank you, Pilestedt, for the good memories. I hope we can see each other again in better circumstances.

TL;DR
Pros:
  • Nice combat and platforming with a good story
  • Solid soundtrack
  • Game's humor
  • Very good level design and boss fights
  • Good animations

Cons:
  • Few issues like at some times, if you spam too many buttons on the controller, character doesn't respond to your feedback and stands still for 2-3 seconds
  • Combat might get a bit repetitive, could've used more combo options
  • Controls might feel a bit messy at times

As this is the studio's first game, it's quite impressive and it's a good game as well. The combat and platforming are nice, but the combat might feel a bit repetitive at some point. However, the game really tries its best to keep the combat fresh with the new abilities and weapons. I believe it could've used a bit more depth, but as it is, it's still good. Boss fights are very good and enjoyable. Also well designed because not only do you have to beware of the boss itself, but you also have to beware of your surroundings otherwise you might die. The Story is good and the game has two endings. The dialogues are fun. They don't change anything in the game, but they try to make you more interested in the story, and, as I said, they're fun. The game has good humor and it uses it on those dialogues very well. And the soundtrack, it needs to be released ASAP. It goes very well with the combat and the soundtrack is very, very good. I've also noticed a few bugs like if you spam multiple buttons on your controller, the character stands still and doesn't respond to anything, no feedback for 2-3 seconds. Other than that, it's a very good and challenging experience and also features New Game+

Short Version
TL;DR
If you're looking for something like Baldur's Gate 3 where almost every decision you make has an impact on the story, or if you're looking for a space simulation like Star Citizen, this is not your game. But if you're looking for new adventures that take part in space with RPG elements or if you liked Skyrim / Fallout and you're saying "Skyrim / Fallout in space? Say no more.", this is your game.

Pros:
  • Todd Howard
  • So many adventures to be a part of
  • The freedom that it gives to you
  • Day 1 mod support
  • Beautiful atmosphere in space, cities, planets
  • Skyrim / Fallout in space, this is the Bethesda game
  • Massive amount of content
  • Voice acting and OST
  • Very low number of repetitive side quests

Cons:
  • Todd Howard
  • Soulless NPCs, almost no facial expression
  • Immersion breaking decisions such as too many loading screens, probably due to technical issues (Creation Engine)
  • Optimization
  • No mini-map in cities and difficult to understand outside city maps that's awfully drawn, probably by AI
  • No vehicle on planets
  • Enemy and companion AI
  • Difficulty (So easy, playing the game on hardest only adds more health to the enemies. No improvements of AI)
  • Some bugs that prevent some quests from progressing (As of this review date)

Detailed Version

You'll hear so many different things from people, some will say this game is bad, some will say it's mid, some will say it's good. Everyone's expectations for this game were different, so the experience they had also varied. Worth mentioning, this game is not something you can fully judge within the first two hours of playing. The more you give, the more it gives you back.

I've spent 11 hours just in New Atlantis and I recommend not getting too caught up in one city because there is so much more to discover outside of it. Because as soon as you get out of New Atlantis, you'll find more joy in the game. Other cities in the game are also big, but New Atlantis is on another level. However, it's important to note that bigger doesn't always mean better in terms of quality. Neon, another city in the game, surpasses New Atlantis in many aspects. In my first 40 hours, I didn't come across with repetitive side quests. Almost every side quest offers a brand new story, an adventure that awaits to be completed. And the quality of some of them is really good, especially the companion/faction missions. In fact, there are some side quests that'll blow your mind!

Okay, now comes the BUT part. But, the gameplay is so old that if you take a break from the game, play different games and come back to Starfield, you might not want to play it anymore.

Before I continue, I just want to say just finish the main story first. The main story is tied with NG+ and that's all I can say. If you want to explore so many things in this game, I'd suggest first finishing the game. Alright, time to get into some details.

Exploration
The exploration isn't as good as it's advertised, and Bethesda should have considered its marketing. Because of the way they marketed it, so many people focused on this aspect and were immediately disappointed. Exploring the 1000 planets feels kinda pointless because those planets are just different maps drawn by AI, and the caves and factories are designed the same way as others you might come across. Even the loot will be the same. Additionally, not having a vehicle when you land on a planet is a huge letdown. Sometimes it feels like those aimless, depressing walks you have in the real world.

Immersion
This is a very big issue. For example, in No Man's Sky, you can land on a planet, take off from the planet, go to space and travel through planets without a loading screen which is very immersive. In Starfield, you'll have loading screens instead of that. And not just in planets, even going into a shop in a city, getting inside or leaving a building etc. And that's probably because of Bethesda's dinosaur era engine. Also, since this is a Bethesda game, every NPC is soulless which can be considered as an another immersion breaker.

Game Engine & Bethesda Formula
Starfield is a very good example that Bethesda's both game engine and formula are beyond the age now. They really need a new engine because of its technical limitations. But not just that, they also need to change their thinking. The same NPC modelling and behavior for the past 25 years which includes soulless NPCs and very but very minimal face animations, same gameplay loop etc. These needs to go away. In 2023, we're following an NPC that walks slower than my dead grandpa. Wake up, Bethesda, both of your game engine and formula are outdated. If The Elder Scrolls 6 will follow the same route, I don't think the name "The Elder Scrolls" will be enough. Although, I'd still prefer this over any Ubisoft formula.

Space
Take out the space from the game and you won't notice anything. You don't even have to use your ship and be in space besides some missions which their number are very, very low. The atmosphere though, is something else. If one thing Starfield does perfectly, that's the atmosphere both in cities and space. Ship combat is just... I don't know. It's fun than normal combat that's for sure though. The game kinda pushes you to upgrade your ship in order to survive in fights. Dock mechanic is fun, sometimes you see some space station, you dock there and it's either a place where you can get new missions and trade or there are enemies in there with loot. Or if you deal enough damage to an enemy ship, you can dock that ship, kill all the enemies and steal the ship. Use it for the rest of your journey or sell it. Some places have zero gravity and fights in there are good.

General
While creating your character, choosing a background affects NPCs' dialogue, there's no depth in any aspect of this game. In my first 40 hours of playtime, I completed over 60 side quests and only 2 main quests. Traits and factions do affect dialogues, provide new options, but not enough. It's like 2+2=4 or 3+1=4 type of new options. Additionally, the persuasion mechanic is a good addition.

The game doesn't teach you everything, so that can be considered as a con for some. It only only teaches so little. Wants you to discover and learn everything by trying it yourself.

Starfield has tons of content that might keep you playing for years if you like it. You can build your own outpost and that outpost can produce resources from that planet. You can build your own ship or you can customize the ship you just bought the way you want. You can be a space pirate, you can be a space cowboy or you can be just yourself, play along the way you want. Be the bad guy (not completely though) or be the good guy. Join a faction, stay loyal or kill the leader of the faction. Find love, get married, get your own house, be a citizen of any region you want. There are so many things to do in Starfield. Maybe you can't shape everything in every story in this game, but there are so many adventures that await to be completed, and some of them has great stories.
These are some parts of the Bethesda formula. But in a good way. Just like in Skyrim and Fallout series, freedom remains the same.

Previous score: 8.5/10
Current score: 7/10

Edit: Updated after playing over 160 hours.

Never been a fan of any horror product but, this one is quite interesting for an indie studio. Graphically good and interesting story (some things can be predictable though). Game feels like its inspired by P.T. (Silent Hill) which is a good thing but, even to me, some jumpscares are not scary enough and lacks some quality.

It catches you with its atmosphere throughout the game but, I think the game gives you so many lighter gas so you almost never run out of gas. It'd be nice if it wasn't this much so it'd also add some adrenaline and might force you to use the lighter wisely. Another bad thing about it I can mention is there are some scenes where it takes a bit long. You starting to say "come on when will it end" and it takes away you from the game. Also, a FOV slider would be much appreciated. And it has an ending credits where you'll wanna sit down and watch, it's really fun :D

Overall, with interesting story, graphically good looking combined with the price, it's a game you must definitely try it out.

9 studios, 3000 people working on the game and this is what we got... Best selling and most advanced COD ever made its debut as a technical disaster. People getting banned for no reason, couldn't able to play the game due to crashes and very bad, laggy servers. And after 2 months from the launch, most of the issues aren't fixed. Just like everything else in the game.

Been playing the game since launch on Battle.net and this game hasn't got any further. It's just another unfinished AAA game.

Since this game contains Campaign (not included in this review), MP, DMZ and Warzone, this might be a long review. So here is the TL;DR
Pros:
  • Gunplay & sounds such as airstrike, guns etc.
  • Weapon tuning
  • Al Mazrah
  • New battle pass and backpack system
  • Proximity chat
  • 3rd person modes

Cons:
  • New 3D Audio which is worse than previous game. Leads to inconsistent audio and makes impossible to hear footsteps
  • Movement
  • UI
  • Lots of improvement from Warzone not included in this game such as option to remove or wear gas mask
  • Lots of bugs and issues, unfinished product
  • Animations takes too long if you don't have fast hands. Some gun reloads can be considered as inspecting
  • TTK (Time To Kill)
  • Much worse SBMM than previous game
  • Too many bots in DMZ and their god tier accuracy
  • Bad designed multiplayer maps
  • Big maps in multiplayer but not enough players to fill the map
  • Camper friendly designed maps and gameplay
  • Flashbangs and stuns. If you got flashbanged/stunned, just leave the kbm/controller
  • Not enough contracts in Warzone
  • Not able to create our own perk package
  • Disconnected from Steam
  • The price
  • Infinity Ward's realism obsession

Some bugs/issues the game has/had:
  • Crashing a vehicle into a mountain sometimes causes server to crash
  • Respawning as mortar(a.k.a cluster) strike
  • When enemy used voice chat, people's names that appear on the left side might stay there until you close the game
  • Unregistered hits such as melee
  • Broken anti-cheat that bans people for no reason
  • Unable to move for the rest of the match when you deploy recon drone sometimes
  • Disappearing HUD after using airstrikes
  • Getting 10 kills in a match gets you shadowbanned

And the list goes on.

Long Version

Multiplayer

Kinda fun to play. Game's less buggy mode is either multiplayer nor campaign. But beware, you'll find yourself playing one of the worst designed maps in COD, maybe even in gaming history. And there is the Infinity Ward fetish; big maps but not enough players to fill the map. Vanguard was bad too but in my opinion, they did one thing right which was the matchmaking up to 20v20 in a single map. This game needs the same thing because most of the maps are HUGE.

DMZ

They called DMZ in beta state but they should've called it alpha or pre-alpha. Just a mode where you get in, do some contracts or some faction missions and get out. No economy etc. Nothing exists to keep it alive. Once you finished your faction missions and the 7 weapon cases, you're basically done with this mode.

Bots are way too much aggressive, it's not even fun. You get almost no armor if you don't purchase it from the buy and there are bots everywhere, shooting from far away, dealing tons of damage that will knock you out immediately. Beware, if you're skilled player or SBMM decided you're, bots will have higher accuracy. All thanks to SBMM.

There is also another map you can play which is called Building 21. The idea is really good in my opinion and it changes the whole atmosphere of the game. No mini-map, armored bots (annoying af), limited equipment and mini bosses. There are times where you'll see an enemy from away but you might not think that was the enemy if their skin is black/dark.

Warzone

Oh boy, Bugzone my beloved. I don't know where to start. First month in a nutshell: launch the game, crash, repeat.

This game is really 2.0 because they abandoned everything what made Warzone unique/good and tried something different.

TTK (Time to Kill) and movement what makes Warzone 2.0 not enjoyable. Can you kill fast? Yes. Can you get killed fast? Yes. Seems fair right? But if you're a rusher like me and someone is camping in the corner (which is the 80% of the community, sadly), most of the time you have zero chance to react. You need 3 plates to stay alive otherwise you'll die almost immediately. They need to adjust ttk a bit. I think long range ttk is kinda ok but close and medium, not at all. Akimbo's and Fennec will insta-delete you in close range. RPK, Kastov 762 and TAQ-V are so powerful in medium and long range. If there was a bit movement in this game, it might help you get out some situations, even with this ttk.

You thought Warzone had bad audio? Wait until you play Warzone 2.0. They managed to create a new 3d audio which is worse than the previous Warzone. You can play this game with no sound without a problem because you're not able to hear any footsteps.

IW obsessed with realism but they forgot we are here to play COD, not something like Tarkov. Animations that takes forever to end etc. If I wanted to play something realistic, I wouldn't be here playing COD. But hey, lets take a look at their realism logic.

IW Realism Logic
  • 9mm pistol can kill you with 3 shots while you're fully armored but 50 cal. sniper requires 2 headshots
  • Melee > Bullets
  • Jump out in a vehicle while driving so fast and get no damage
  • Heli dropped 1 meter above the ground explodes
  • Truck going faster than most of the cars
  • You can't armor up/reload the gun while running and not able to fire a single bullet while sliding but, you can run & jump while you're carrying 100 rounds lmg, 50 cal. sniper and 50 rounds smg at the same time

Much more can be added to the list above. I think IW continue to provide/develop the engine and gunplay but for the love of god, stay the hell out of anything else about gameplay because your decisions made this game less enjoyable.

This game is pain but I don't know why I'm still playing it. Still, not recommended in its current state.

The game is good and it's promising. The development is slow but solid. And this process might be the biggest con of the game. Still, kudos to the devs for creating something like this. I wish some AAA companies try it too. Just imagine a game like this with more devs and very high budget.

Would recommend playing with three or more friends. Even though it has mod support, I don't think it adds much to the game in its current state, but still, it's a good thing to have.
