A minimalistic yet surprisingly complex kingdom building sim. Your character can't jump, can't fight, can't shoot, all you can do is casually trot left or right and drop a single gold coin on the ground. It doesn't seem like much of a gameplay mechanic but there's a surprising amount you can do with that single gold coin.

You take control of a king or queen and attempt to build empire in the middle of a desolate and haunted forest. Every day you will be besieged by an ever growing hoard of monsters while your resources keep dwindling. At this point your only goal is to stave off the inevitable for as long as you can.

This game is surprisingly relaxing and atmospheric. It also used to be $5 but they made it free to play now that there are 2 sequels to this. Honestly that is a good way to go to build goodwill with the community. Try it out, it's free, and see how long you can last.

Greedy freemium garbage. The game is still in beta and already they're trying to peddle you premium currency, boosts, skins, passes, and character unlocks.

I would much rather just pay full price for a complete game with everything already included. This business practice of nickel & diming needs to stop.

Facebook version of King's Bounty. It's filled with your typical grind/wait/pay mechanics and predatory monetization. And now they went and shut the servers down so you can't even play it anymore.

Pretty expensive for a demo. First you buy the game then you buy the real game from the in-game shop. These kind of predatory business practices need to stop. Either sell the entire game in one purchase or make the demo free to play.

The game itself is decent enough, most people know how Puzzle Quest works by now, but all this "live service" nonsense needs to go. There's multiple forms of currency, purchasable chest keys, there's even a monthly subscription fee. Long time Puzzle Quest fans should be outraged by this shameless cash grab trying to milk you for every last penny.

I will gladly reverse my recommendation if, and only if, they remove all the predatory mobile garbage from this game. But until that day this is just another fallen franchise being fed upon by greedy corporate vampires.

Sega's answer to Mario Kart. It's a fun clean simple racer that shows much love to some of the more obscure characters from Sega's franchise catalogue.

It's a shame though, unfortunately I can't recommend it because it's one of those ports that can't even give you the most basic option to rebind your keys.

This is going to be a bit of a hard recommendation to sell because I really want to love this game but there's some glaring problems that keep it from being a truly great game.

For starters there's some framerate stuttering issues when trying to run the game in fullscreen mode on higher resolutions. Lowering the resolution just makes everything grainy and fuzzy. There's also no UI scaling option which means reading those encyclopedia entries becomes a pain in the ass. And to make an already bad situation worse the game will repeatedly crash because of some DirectX runtime something or other. And on the subject of crashing there's a particularly nasty glitch that will effectively brick your game if you research all the available technologies.

Then there's the AI which will attack you completely at random and then stubbornly refuses to accept a ceasefire even if it's losing badly or if it can't even attack you at all. In the screenshot above I was playing with the naval faction, all my cities and units were at sea the whole time, the guy with the tanks and foot soldiers suddenly declared war on me and then for 100+ turns did absolutely nothing because he had no navy.

tl;dr - a spiritual successor that fails to live up to the legacy of Alpha Centauri.

The sequel to Blackwell Legacy. This time around you play as Rosa's aunt 30 years prior to the original game. Gameplay wise everything is relatively the same but you can now also play as Joey to get his perspective on things, the tag team mechanic really makes it feel like you're actually partners.

Continue your journey as Anna as she attempts to restore her kingdom and memories. The complaint with the first game is that it was too short and as any true sequel Empress 2 is twice as big and has twice as much to offer.

Since this is a hidden object game and since you've mostly likely already played Empress Of The Deep 1 there's not much else to say, it's bigger and there's more of it, so give it a shot if you enjoyed the first game.
