Great game with an immense amount of content and progression. One of the best f2p games I've ever played. Tons of great communities forming around it. Some with devious plans and some with great intent. Keep up the great work CB! You're on the right track

My original review is below and unchanged. This is an honest update on the current state of No Mans Sky.

I stayed away from NMS for a while until the NEXT patch came out. FINALLY the game we were promised! So much has been fixed, as a matter of fact, everything on my CONS list below has been fixed. This game is now worthy of the hype it generated in the first place.

However, there are still a few things that could be done better. The following list for example.

1. There are still bugs, go figure, but I'm sure they'll be ironed out bit by bit. Falling through your freighter and dying in space is no fun. Especially in hardcore.

2. Multiplayer is implemented and runs fine but there could be a bit more incentive to play together. I logged over 80 hours recently with friends in my lobby and the coolest moment was finding an exotic ship. Maybe some multiplayer raids or something of the sort.

3. The grind is real. It always has been but some things are severely overpriced. Base building being the biggest culprit here. 200 Pure Ferrite per small cuboid room... Ouch. It adds up FAST.

4. Fixing distressed ships is a lost cause. Especially if you repair each inventory slot as they still do not count much towards your trade in value, if at all.

5. Terrain manipulator works well for mining but not for base building. Flattening an area is a chore that no one will want to undertake in its current form.

I will continue to stick with it during future patches and see where it moves to. Especially considering the massive amount of amazing work that Hello Games has done. I was livid for years about this game and they've redeemed themselves. It's definitely worth picking up on sale or even at full price.

OLD REVIEW:

NO SPOILERS! 66 hours in... That's MORE than enough time to evaluate a game. I REALLY wanted to advocate for this game. Let me tell you this much. EVERY aspect of the game is clunky and requires refinement.

Pros:
TONS of planets to explore.
Great foundation to EXPAND upon.

Cons:
Frame rate issues.
Crafting is poorly implemented (and annoying)
Random Crashes.
Repetition.
Promised feautures that were removed. (google them. the important ones are listed)
Lack of multiplayer
The "center of the universe"
Black holes (go through one and you'll see why it's a con)

If you bought this game expecting some sort of reward or recognition at the end please don't be fooled. This game will leave you high and dry after a LONG grind. I don't review many games but I felt the need to warn you. I bought THREE copies for friends and one for myself. That's $240 of hard earned money just to find out we can't play together but only "see" what others have discovered (and that's if we're close enough).

I wanted this to be a great game... I was one of those firm believers that we would get a decent end product. Let me end this by stating that this game has prevented me from ordering any other pre-release games in the future in fear of being burned...

You can hate on this review all you want. I went into this game expecting what was promised multiple times and was sorely mistaken. If you don't agree with me you will shortly. Buyer beware!

I may not be a long time player but I can state this game is well worth the download. It has great graphics and the servers run well. The countries seem well balanced. I downloaded and played it in spite of all of the recent negative reviews. I'm glad I gave it a shot. With around 50+ hours into it I had no problem upgrading to premium and speeding up my research to catch up to some buddies. I think if you like tanks or planes you'll love this game.
