The description is misleading, but it's still a really fun weapon. I don't recommend you buy it individually, but as part of the XXL edition it's really fun to play with.

Honestly, pretty disappointing in 2024. Always >4 people playing at any given time, no tethering, no npcs, and not much to do. With everything that makes this game what it is being stripped, there's really nothing to do besides hang out with people. With there being very few people left to play with, there's nothing to make this fun or interesting at all. This is barely anything like the singleplayer game. I regret getting my hopes up for this because in reality, there's basically nothing to do unless there's an active player base.

Additionally, hosting a server is not simple at all, and you can't just host a game for your friends to join. You have to set up a dedicated server for it, which is too time consuming for what I imagine most people want to get out of this game. And if you try to play on public servers, prepare for MASSIVE ping spikes and lag. I have almost nothing good I can say about this, unfortunately. Just Cause 3 Multiplayer Mod had so much potential within it, potentially rivaling GTA Online. But as it stands there's nothing to do, buggy, slow servers, and no tethering.

great game

The best 2D era game in my opinion. I would recommend it if you're interested in arcade style games. I don't recommend the Steam version unless you're really interested in the collector's value of owning it and the history behind it. It's relatively easy to find the old PC version of the game online, which runs leaps and bounds better than this version and wouldn't have cut radio stations. As a rare-ish collector's piece, it's really cool to own, but outside of that niche you aren't likely to get much value out of it. This version unfortunately doesn't work very well on modern Windows, so mods are recommended. If you really want to own this version of the game, Steam keys are increasingly more and more scarce, so beware of scams.

Great game

INCREDIBLE. i hadnt played the original properly since like 2014, and it was so easy to instantly pick back up and play again. theres no hard learning curve, no barrier to entry, and progression isnt really important. you can just pick it up and play and have an absolute blast. i have almost never had that much fun with a video game in years.

If you're a Punch Out fan, I cannot recommend this enough. This is what I've been looking for in a game for years. The gameplay is fantastic and I've loved every second of it. I don't review games often, but this game is amazing and I highly recommend it to Punch Out veterans and newcomers alike.

Fair performance, but attempting to go full screen while loading, alt tabbing while loading, alt tabbing before loading, and even trying to go full screen randomly can all cause crashes. Keep this in mind before buying. Besides that, amazing game and significantly better performance than console, while maintaining gamepad support.
