EDIT 12/5/2024

While Sony has retracted their statement and will no longer force players to link their PSN accounts to play the game on PC, the game remains delisted in 177 countries, where it was previously purchaseable and where people who bought the game from those countries can no longer play the product they paid for.

As such, this review will remain negative until Sony completely retracts these measures.

I encourage anyone to do the same and not change their reviews back to positive so quickly, as Sony hasn't fully rolled back on their backstabbing.

OLD REVIEW KEPT FOR POSTERITY

While the game is really fun I will not support the most recent account linking update.

The game functioned until now without the PC community needing to link to a console service that most don't use because they don't own a Playstation console.

This linking process is literally useless and only here to farm user data, user data that will end up sold to advertisers after Sony gets data breached for the nth time.

I had my fun with Helldivers 2. But I won't play again until and if this linking update is reverted. And I advise you to not purchase and support these practices.

Game deserves this second chance. The gameplay is very fun and fast paced and while its got a fair share of bugs to iron out, dont let that stop you from hopping in. All content is completely free and obtainable with in game currency, you start with a sizeable amount of characters and the game generously gives out unlock tokens for you to complete the roster in under 20 hours of gameplay. The world is very unique, the lore is deeper than it seems, and everything just feels fun and tight when hopping onto a match.

Give this game a chance. You wont regret it.

A big downgrade not only from the first game but how it started in Early Access. If you had asked me to reccomend the game before the writing of the story completely changed, I wouldve said 100% yes - as the game stands now, however, it is just a shell of how it began.

The protagonist is now constantly quipping in and talking throughout the game - and instead of the calm, mature and flawed scientist she was in the beginning of EA, she became a stereotypical action girl who can do no wrong.

The story makes absolutely no sense and is completely pointless. You fly to 4546B because you dont believe Alterra when they say your sister died due to negligence. But then at the end of the mystery you find out that it was true all along. Sam killed herself by mistake by setting off the bomb earlier than intended. Thats negligence. Then you just decide to... leave to an alien planet? Not only that but your conversations with the Architect are also frustrating. Before the massive writer change, Robin's conversations with Al-An felt like she was trying her best to reason with Al-An and find a middle ground at every situation; it truly felt like Robin was being mature about every topic, even when trying to explain how humanity works to Al-An. Now, all Robin does is reply with unfunny one liners, sarcasm and anger.

The map and soundtrack are the only saving graces of this game. As a Subnautica experience, it still retains the fun exploration, crafting, base building and unique environments to discover. The land sections arent as bad as some people say they are, the movement out of water is just anky, which I wish they wouldve tuned.

Overall, if youre looking for a Subnautica experience, just go play the original. This one is not worth playing unless you can bear the pain of hearing an unfunny action girl and play through a pointless storyline.

This game has definitely sailed away from the blatant cash grab it once was, and is now very well worth the full price they ask for it.

There is plenty to do now: massive multiplayer, mechs, base building, abandoned ships in the middle of space to explore, nice little plotlines to keep you entertained while out in the open world, there's just so much content now.

Does it still feel vast and sometimes empty? Well, its to be expected. No matter how much content they add, the game will forever be a true space simulator. Space is huge and empty. This game captures that feel perfectly. There's no need for you to constantly have something to do, somewhere to go, some objective to complete. Sometimes, you gotta take risks. Sometimes, you just gotta appreciate the moment. The calmness of space (whenever you arent being jumped on by space pirates) and the relaxing feel of flying from system to system, planet to planet.

This game is gorgeous, its amazing, its entertaining, and most importantly, the masterpiece that was promised to us 4 years ago. It doesnt deserve to be brushed aside anymore. If youre looking to buy the game, please give it a second chance. I promise you, you wont be disappointed.

One of the most fun party games ive ever played. Definitely give it a shot.

The racing maps are really fun to play in, and most if not all give you a fair shot at qualifying even if you stay behind.
Team minigames are 50/50 for me, because its very hard to comeback as a team since the game has no communication (and isnt supposed to have). Once you start losing on the 2 team football minigame, for example, youll most definitely lose the entire thing. The others where you have more than 2 teams are more fun and fair, but still a bit frustrating since you as an individual cant do much to help your team win if theyre just really bad.
Single platform minigames (Roll Out, the rotating walls one, Perfect Match, and the one where you have to jump over the rotating bars) are probably the most fun ones, although i think Perfect Match should be elimination-based like the other minigames as right now its basically a free pass to the next round unless you miss your jump for some reason or someone pushes you off.
The final round minigames are also extremely fun and challenging, although on Royal Mountain unless you manage to grab a lead early on youre most definitely not gonna be able to win.

Overall, amazing game. No wonder its so popular. It only needs a few tweaks to be perfect for everyone. Definitely worth the full price.

This is one of the best looking cars in game (be it DLC, crate or basic cars). It's slim, has nice sound effects, great visuals and details, not to mention its amazing decals. Its only downside is the hitboxes, but its a great car for normal games nontheless :D

Its a really fun game for 1€, i think it even deserves a bit more like 5€.

I just wished the devs would focus more on this, which still needs some polish, instead of continuously ruining their MMO...

Early Access Review
Definitely worth checking out if you're into Arena FPS games. Very good and solid game, completely F2P as far as gameplay goes and very fun mechanics and characters.

Besides, it's free! You don't have anything to lose in trying it out.
