A neat little game with challenging puzzles. Very obviously inspired by portal, but manages to stand entirely on its own right when it comes to puzzles. The story added in the directors cut is actually not even that bad, and although I pretty much understood what was going to happen, I was still "maybe maybe"-ing till the end.
Its constantly adding new game mechanics throughout the game, but it never feels entirely unfamiliar. The con with that being that personal taste dictates that you'll dislike at least some of them. A few of the puzzles towards the end are really really hard, which I guess if you're into it you can figure out, but personally I just looked those puzzles that I didn't enjoy up.

This is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing game. I recommend it highly to anyone wanting a serious and well written story about loneliness and inner growth. Most of the review will be spoilers, and I highly recommend you don't read it until you've actually played it.

I divide it in 4 parts, Sunny, parents, boyfriend and self. Sunny was imo the best part, and the least open ended. It was all about listening more, and while it felt a lil heavy handed at times (I cant imagine anyone actually not starting to listen when someone says stuff like that, but it conveys a general point which means a lot more than the story in and of itself).

The parents were also great. At the beginning though, I got the sinking feeling that the father was abusive though, but eventually it was more about the past and how to let go. And the father, while angry, wasn't really abusive, they just fought a lot.

The part with the boyfriend is where I started to see a few problems. The wolf with darkness under it was obviously a stand-in for someone seeming good but being very abusive. It was actually really well written. The little girl excusing his actions was great, an amazing peak into the mind of a victim. The subtle hints into his abuse when he compliments her "backpack", really showing that he's mostly interested in her vulnerability and insecurity. And the fact that the protagonist wants to fix the relationship the same way her parents fixed theirs is amazing.

It fell apart a bit for me when the wolf started being portrayed as anxious. I felt the game was making strong connections between real life anxiety (the disease) and his abuse. My personal headcannon is that the wolf represented her idea of her boyfriend, and not actually her boyfriend. Which is why him "dumping" her is really just her realising she needs to leave him. It just didn't quite sit right with me that they don't make very clear that what he does is abuse and that she needs to leave.

The breakdown of self after that was great, seeing how a victim suffers from losing their abuser, even if its self-realised. The feeling of being "alone", rediscovering friends. All of it was great. I didn't quite understand what the weird fish-creature and shy-shell creatured stood for metaphorically. My best guess is that they are anxiety and that the fact that they weren't destroyed by the end is a nod to the fact that a mental illness like that never really leaves. I didn't quite understand the hug at the end, that might be her accepting her condition? Maybe I'm reading into it too much xD. Anyway, great game.

As someone who loves vermintide 2, I'm going to instantly equate this to vermintide. Which isn't a bad thing. Vermintide is fast, quick and melee focused. I was looking for a vermintide-like game and this delivered. In comparison, a lot of the UI is kinda bad, the inability to see your own health very well, the upgrade system being kinda unclear and weird etc etc. However, this offers the experience if being in a giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suit of powerarmour and blasting away hopelessly at groups of xenomorphs. It's really, really intense, best enjoyed with a friend or two but that goes for all vermintide-like games.

So as is pretty much the general conclusion in this section is that bl3 is an improvement in everything but that the story is incredibly weak. I disagree.

I played bl2 a month of so ago in full for the first time. First time I played it I quit an hour or two in because I got bored. I enjoyed bl2, I had moments where I despised the level design. but I enjoyed the game. Now to be fair, I knew the ending and all the spoilers and such, but I really did not give much of a ♥♥♥♥ when it happens. I enjoyed Tannis, Lilith, Roland, Marcus and a few others. I couldn't force myself to give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about fanservice and lol-so-random.

I went into bl3 being told by my coop partner that it was universally seen as bad storytelling, but I made sure to go in unspoiled because I wanted to see if the story was fun for myself. And I know this is a very controversial opinion, but bl3's story is better than bl2. I have no idea why people reacted so badly.

-If noone had told me claptraps voice actor had changed, I would not have noticed.
-A lot of the jokes that "fell flat" are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gold. Maybe I'm childish, but bl3 has all the same energy in their jokes as bl2 but has way more of them.
-Ava is imo one of the best characters they've done (might be biased because everything maya touches is gold). She reacts like a human being, and has flaws. She's got more than one "gimmick".
-Most other new characters they introduced were good, I hadn't played tales of the borderlands or the pre sequel, but this might convince me to.
-The streamer jokes hit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ home, the couple is great and I love that they develop over time just like Jack did, but without repeating exactly what they did in previous games. Troys growth out of his sisters shadow is cool, and in general their constant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with you is really fun to hear.


And I think the most important point, the game makes me actually feel like a character. In bl2 I had a cool talk scene in the beginning that had me asking for more, just to maybe occasionally find a few echo logs for the other characters and every now one of mine. Even my in-fight voice lines felt more like background noise than development. In bl3, not only do you actually respond to people you're talking to, the voice actors did a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing job. I adore the in-combat voice lines, the "git gud or die" gets me every time.

So yea, that's it. Go tell me why I'm wrong if you want, I just think that people shouldn't go into this game thinking that it's the worst story you've ever seen, relax, and enjoy it.

An absolute blast of a game, I haven't finished it, I don't really know how long it is but it definately has some replayability.

The voice acting is amazing, the music is even better. The art style sometimes really hits home and sometimes it kinda falls flat, the explosions and some of the breaking effects are kinda out of place sometimes, but in general really amazing.

The story is built in a way that during combat and during missions you're always thinking and theorising. A lot of detective games for me fall flat either because they're walking-sims or because the story feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ choose your own adventure with intervals of combat. This game really gets to you, and with the amazing art and music the story parts really hit home.

The combat system either works amazingly, or falls completely flat. There is no middle ground. Sometimes you feel like a god, jumping between enemies, time warping and throwing everything around in a flurry of blows. Other times, you die to a single enemy because your camera just rotated and you have no idea where anything is anymore.

The most infuriating things are the insta kill pits, because the game works with a "walk towards where the mouse is" system it's either really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fluent, or you have no idea where you're going and/or why your dude just randomly jumped into the lava. And let me tell you, it really takes you out of the story when you have to repeat the same bossfight until you know every move so you can prepare for the insta-kill.

All in all, definately reccommended, but if you're someone who tends to rage, it might pay off to buy a steel reinforced mouse.

As one of the playtesters and long time fan of sauropods my rating might be scuffed, but this is honestly a great game. If you can look past a few flaws and can deal with a few bugs here and there you can get a game that's incredibly fun and will be continually updated with new stuff.

You'll also notice how none of the negative reviews have more than a few hours in game, that's because the game is kinda hard. Which pisses some people off for some reason.

I picked this game up a few years ago, since then, with every major update, I played it from start until the point where the story finished. Truly one of the best games I've played, highly recommended, especially if you have a friend or two to play with. The story is surprisingly deep and interesting, the humour is on point and the gameplay is truly enjoyable.

This won't be the game you play for the rest of your life, but it's one of those games that'll leave an impression on you and whoever you play this with, and strengthening your bond with them.
