This game uses MMR system for player ranking. By killing and dying to other players you manipulate your rank. This review explains Hunt Showdown experience is on these ranks:

Absolute newcomers with no game hours / experience whatsoever, nearly impossible rank to reach or derank to. Even one kill will immediately boost you an uprank.

Mostly players who have not yet reached bloodline 11 (end of trainee-mode, where you don't lose your hunters) and has no experience or knowledge about the game beyond watching YouTube-videos and streams.
⭐⭐⭐
This rank is divided to two base categories for players. Very bad, casual players and extreme tryhards who are sick of losing but still terrible at the game. Very bad, casual players die over and over again in each match and don't seem to improve, while the extreme tryhards will do anything to get kills. This mostly means holding angle with dual wield pistols and tagging 2 bodyshots as soon as the unaware target walks around the corner. They also hide in random bushes waiting for their prey outside any action (because they don't honestly even know where the action is)

This is lower-average skill rank for players. Most players here are new with basic knowledge of the game, but they don't have anything special up their sleeves. These players mostly only use everything that can be spammed fast (chain pistol with fanning, winfield with levering) This has yielded them enough kills to get out of rank 3.

The average hunt players. Most of these players play quite casually, but well while trying to enjoy the game. Surprisingly many new players has reached this rank lately, I guess they watched a lot of YouTube tutorials and Twitch streams. This is likely the rank where you will get the best Hunt Showdown experience.

Extremely sad tryhard campers. They hide in the boss lair after killing boss without banishing it so you wouldn't hear the whispers, looking through small holes in the walls with snipers instantly headshotting anyone who comes nearer than the effective range of their guns. They absolutely know everything about the one loadout they have selected to use (mosin sniper and uppercut), because it yields them the best results (= win every time). If boss has banished, they rather select camping extractions and random locations to ambush players. They will never engage in a fair fight (or anything that has risks), and that is the only reason why and how they are maintaining that hard-earned 6-star ranking.

My advice to new players is to play Hunt very casually on MMR 3 and you will enjoy Hunt Showdown (and you won't get sabered by me)
