This is a great port and a great game! Played the original on PS4 but PC is the preferred experience

Early Access Review
This was not ready, even for early access. If you're looking to alpha test a game for full price then go ahead and give it a try, but otherwise if you just want something playable stick to modded KSP1 for now. I'll revisit this review later when they've ironed out some kinks but for now I can't recommend this to anyone in this state.

I feel like this game doesn't *want* me to play it. I can't even continue the campaign where I left off without about 7 clicks into menus. On first launch I naively assumed I could just click 'Play' and was treated to about a minute of spoilers before I realized that I was being brought up to speed to the 'latest' content.

This is the first From Software game that I've ever truly been able to get into (despite owning several). Every other title felt like it was just a series of hard puzzles leading to near impossible boss fights. Elden Ring is truly an open world that is fun to explore (with the occasional near impossible boss fight mixed in).

Some boss fights do feel a bit unfair but it does feel like you can improve your stats and come back later and beat each one. Or if you're really desperate, summon a co-op player to help you beat it. At almost 100 hours I feel like I've still barely scratched the surface of what there is to explore.

If you are the kind of person though who wants quest markers or clear guidance on where to go or what to do next, just be aware that this isn't that type of game. There's no quest log or journal or anything else to track what you need to do, you need to do that all on your own. I can't imagine anyone coming into this game totally blind and figuring out everything on their own, looking up guides and tips online is basically a requirement.

I can sympathize with people having issues with wiped inventory, or connection issues. I came into this game as a single-player experience so I have not had those troubles. So this review is for solo players like myself...

I sort of got this on a whim after reading it had similar loot system and endgame to Diablo 3. I don't typically expect much in the way of story from these kinds of games but I was pleasantly surprised. The gameplay is fun and the story is interesting and engaging. I would say it's well worth the entry price just for solo play and if they can manage to iron out all the multiplayer issues it would be cherry on top.

One recommendation would be to simply play at a World Tier level (difficulty) that you find fun instead of feeling the need to constantly increase difficulty as the game encourages you to do. There's very little benefit especially if you are finding fights frustrating. Set your world tier just high enough so your build feels powerful and you don't constantly wipe on bosses.

I have to recommend this game - I mean it's the best Star Wars game since Jedi Academy. It is decently long and the lightsaber combat is excellent. I like that they used a 'souls-like' premise for this game, it helps it stand out.

However for all that there are definitely flaws... a lot of people talk about the 'exploration' but except for some tucked away unlockables the game is almost on rails. You can't stray off the beaten path at all. Most of the puzzles are pretty straightforward - I'm not great at puzzles at all and figured most of them out with a moment or two's thought. I don't see this game having really much replay value once beaten.... there's so many skill points doled out you can unlock pretty much every power during a playthrough, meaning there's no impetus to try a 'different build' on a second playthrough. About all you can do is make the game harder and see all the same things. Would have been nice if they had forced the player to specialize in one area of the force so that you had a reason to try something else on a new playthrough.

It's fun though... and that's what we want from a game right? So if you don't mind the sticker price and enjoy Star Wars get it. It's still one of the best games to come out in 2019.

I completed Assassin's Creed Origins and I can say this game tops it in just about every way. Tombs were more fun in Origins but the ability design, quest design and world itself is much better in Odyssey. They seem to be listening to feedback as they recently upped the level cap (it was far too easy to cap out previously at 50 with the vast amount to do in this game).

Like the old Gothic series, this game is not going to hold your hand. That said it's a unique setting and has *tons* of quests to complete. Yeah, you might have to figure out which ones you can actually handle.... but isn't it refreshing to not have everything handed to you on a silver platter for a change? There's definitely a few issues but in terms of sheer content I think this game is worth getting. If you can get it on sale, so much the better.

One area I don't think reviewers give this game enough credit for is the vast amount of choice & consequence built into the quests. You can literally lock out entire questlines by certain choices, meaning multiple playthroughs are a must if you want to experience 'everything'. Most NPCs seem to remember your choices as well, adding depth.

Bottom line: old school RPG, choices matter, replayability is high with this one (multiple factions, quests).

I think a lot of people review this game compared to the originals which is not doing it justice. Compared to a lot of titles that came out last year, this is certainly the most expansive and open world. The season pass DLC has kept the game fresh and I keep coming back to it.
