Even better than the first game aside from a few pacing issues. Easily one of the best games I've ever played

I found some parts of the early chapters to drag on a little but this game has so many moments that stand out which add up to it being a much better game than the first one, especially the final chapter. The story is easily one of my favourites in a game, and the character development is fantastic.

The music is also fantastic, some of the tracks are probably the best I've ever heard in a game, and they really add to some of the more memorable moments.

The combat is generally more balanced with more interesting arts but the higher tier arts are almost meaningless upgrades due to their tiny damage increase compared to the EP cost. The late game got pretty irritating because most of the bosses resist basically everything, including debuffs, and they also had ridiculous amounts of health which made some of them quite tedious.
