Quick-save happy action game squarely of the old school variety. At the time of release there was just nothing else like Max Payne. The Matrix was fresh in the minds of the masses. System Shock 2, Half-Life, Deus Ex, had all been released. PC gaming couldn't get any better. Or so we thought.

Controls may seem wonky to youngins raised on the buttery smooth engines of late. Mechanics may seem unpolished if you're used to a skill ceiling in reach of "everyone". Max Payne can both challenge and frustrate you. Gameplay-as-story was new and had only been woven succesfully into a handful of titles. It stands as a great example of a "pure" game, hitting all the highs the medium has to offer. It hasn't aged quite as gracefully as other classics, but strap into a comfy chair with at least a few hours to spare, turn the lights down and your sound up and prepare to enjoy an excellent affair of cinematic gaming in the dark underworld of a frozen New York City.

Heralding the golden age of PC gaming, Deus Ex is a game about depth, exploration, and strategy. One of the rare titles that exhibits video games in its truest form. A complete experience that demands reflection not just on gameplay and design, but your own life. Who are you, really? What exactly do you think you know? Play Deus Ex and find out.

F.E.A.R. is one of the greatest single player experiences in gaming history. The game sports some of the best combat and action sequences ever to be played, all while creating an incredibly frightening atmosphere revolving around a thrilling storyline (probably the best since Half-Life). It is noted as maintaining the delicate balance between action, horror and storytelling, a feat that few titles manage to achieve today. F.E.A.R. never pulls the same gag twice. The developers literally thought of every possible way to creep you out and they are batting 100%. Immerse yourself in F.E.A.R. and you'll be treated to an action packed terror ride, spanning some of the best 8-10 hours you'll spend in front of your computer.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beast. Great single player, amazing multiplayer. The SP is pretty immersive and the storyline isn't all that far out - it's actually quite plausible because it centers around the oil crisis of the future. The gameplay is similar to Far Cry and Crysis in that it is open ended and allows the player to decide how to complete objectives.
