Spoilerfree, with few descriptions of overall things.

Going into this, I was super concerned. All the screams about woke had me worried it was going to be awful and ruined. All the "HR is in the room", "Writing is super bad" etc. comments had my heart sink before the launch. Art style concerned me. "It's not dark anymore" was also worrysome.

First few hours it felt like it was a joke to all the NPCs and even the PC. But soon enough the jokester attitude balanced out and you could take it seriously again. The "bad writing" isn't as bad as it was made out to be, nor does a lot of it seem like HR is present. The gender identity stuff isn't glued on, but actually make sense, and isn't taking anything away from the main narrative. It's just part of one characters story. You can skip/ignore it if you want. The character design/propotions takes a little while to get used to, but after a few hours, you don't even think about it. The "wow that looks so bad" character designs are just something you can make yourself, rather than the NPCs (looking at that specific qunari screenshot for example).

I don't really consider this an RPG as such. Maybe an action-rpg, but I am not familiar with that genre, but it's no less of an RPG that DA2 is. I think the main difference is that you can't micromanage your party members. None of it is personally an issue to me, but if you do want your HC RPG experience, this isn't it. There isn't crafting either, but it has never been a big aspect for me in Dragon Ages.

The soundtrack is excellent. It isn't as memorable as anything we've had in Mass Effects, but none of the DAs soundtracks are. However it all fits the mood and scenes.

It's not an open-world, which honestly, isn't an issue at all, and you still do have your explorables etc. They're just not as vast as you'd have in DA:I. You can still decide where you want to go most of the time and get lost in explorable areas.

The characters do joke at times, but the definitely doesn't mean the story isn't dark or that everyone survives. There are grim, upsetting and emotional moments, as long as you pay attention.

The overarching story is great and pretty major all things considered. I've seen complaints that we don't see mages and templars a lot for example , but honestly, there wasn't a point where I thought they'd be necessary. NPC's personal stories, for most part, are interesting and quite different from each other. Sidequests didn't really stick in my head, but nothing felt like it was just stupid. Some unnecessary ones, maybe.

I've have finished this with the "best" ending and then again to get the post-credits scene. The post-credits scene is easily missable if you're not careful. They are pretty visible, but I didn't take one turn after a boss and missed it initially. Between those who beat the game (8.3%) and those who have unlocked the post-credits scene (2.9%) is a difference of over 5%. Granted, it's a new game so these will surely change a lot, but it annoys me a little that a lot of people can seemingly miss it. However, it does set up the future of the Dragon Age universe, so it feels quite important as a teaser alone.

All in all, this was a lovely 90 hours, especially after all the concerns raised. Really hoping this isn't it for Bioware due to the cultural state of things, like what happened with bombing of ME:Andromeda.

EDIT: To add technical details, I think the game randomly shut down twice. I'm not sure why as there was no error message. Played this with GTX1080, i7-7700 and 16gb of RAM with Windows 10.
