This game was a lot of fun! There is a lot of secrets that I wish I had discovered without looking stuff up on the internet, but this is really that kind of a game. I think they wanted to replicate the feeling of having to share information with friends and for it to be a collaborative effort, but in this day and age it's hard not to look stuff up on the internet.

This game is quite similar in overall gameplay to another game that I played and loved recently named "Death's Door." If you like Tunic I would recommend to check it out as it shares a lot of the same design language as Tunic. Tunic is quite a bit more difficult though (especially the bosses).

There is a specific area in the game that left me with a lot of questions about the lore, and I were expecting more answers than was given. It feels like a negative, but it's ultimately good that there are still questions to answer about the world. It feels almost like there are more secrets yet to be found!

I would definitely love more of this in the future.

I didn't write a review for this? huh.
Give me more of this. I need it.

I played the first game for the first time in 2020. It's almost like I got nostalgic for it already before I beat the game.

The unresponsiveness of this game is not the fault of any other process running on my computer.
I will give this game another shot some other day but right now, every design decision of this game goes against what I know to be good game design and it's infuriating. The game feels unresponsive. It keeps leading me into "secret" areas that is completely empty. I don't know what anything I pick up does at all. It keeps pointing to stuff on my map, but the map isn't actually a map, it's just a confusing quest log that doesn't tell me anything.

If there was ever a reason to go into a game blind, this is it.
Do you think turn based card games are boring? this is the exception.
Are you afraid that the game mechanics of a card game will become stale very fast? Don't be.
Play this.

This was a great experience, I only wish it went on for longer.

Where as Titan Souls was nothing but bosses, this game adds numerous unique enemies to fight on your way between the bosses. This time around it is definitely more about building a world with an interesting story to get immersed in, which means that the bosses are fewer and further between.
It really doesn't matter however as this game has great world and level design to sink your teeth in. When you eventually get to a boss, they're always exceptionally fun to fight and they never feel unfairly difficult or tedious.
In fact, I would have loved it if the bosses were just a bit more challenging, as I could beat most of them with just a few tries (This is coming from an experienced guy though). Other than that, there were a few times too many where I entered a room that could have hosted a boss, for it to only be waves of enemies I had to kill instead. There are also a couple of recurring mini-bosses with some variations. These were challenging at first but after a while I learned their behaviors so well that I could beat them on first try.

These are just nitpicks however. This is an excellent game with a lot of secrets to find, and I won't be forgetting about it anytime soon!

Really cool game! It's early VR, but it's still a great VR game today.

I played through this game without much knowledge of what I was getting myself into. I knew it was a wacky platformer/ collectathon, but not much else. As a game developer, this is the type of game I want to make! The characters are practically overflowing with characterization, and one particular character reminded me way too much of one of my own to the extent that I would be called a copy-cat for using him in a game in the future.
The game is noticeably built for what would today be considered bad hardware, and the game is a bit rough around the edges because of that, but that mostly just added to the charm!
I can't wait to check out the newly released sequel!

I played this again yesterday, and I'm a bit annoyed that 80% of all the rounds I encounter are the ones I spent 100+ hours on when the game first released.
Still really fun though, especially with friends. The Squad mode is great!

Risk of rain 2 prioritizes gameplay over everything, and the result is an incredibly satisfying experience with lots of unlockables and secrets to find. If you have friends who like dungeon crawlers like The Binding of Isaac just as much as yourself, this game is a no brainer.
