I have no idea how this game has a very positive overall rating.

It is so absurdly easy, there simply isn't any challenge here at all. Health upgrades give 100% of starting HP and there are many. I didn't come close to dying once.

The collectibles can be randomly hidden in destructible items and of course there isn't any way to locate them, meaning if for whatever reason I wanted to find them all I would have to use a walkthrough or scour every inch of the map. There isn't even a reward for collecting them other than an achievement, so why bother?

It only took me 7 hours to beat it and at the time of writing it rarely goes on sale.

Who is this game for?

The start of the game is incredibly easy and slow, but halfway through the first set of levels the difficulty spikes massively. The ship is too large to avoid the many obstacles on the narrow levels. The ships gun is slow and weak which makes killing the new enemies that show up take far too long. It can be upgraded but the high coin cost means that it's still too weak to dispatch enemies before they move off screen. And to top it off each level starts with the ship at only 1 heart of health - one mistake and you're done.

Ultimately this game just isn't fun. It has a lot of things going for it (particularly the pixel art,) but I have to force myself to play it.

a extremely mediocre 3d platformer.

A very frustrating game. The platforms and hazards look almost identical to the background scenery making it very hard to tell what I can ignore/ what I can land on/ and what will kill me. The music is bizarrely happy and upbeat and doesn't fit the tone of the visuals at all.

The checkpoints are bad, and dying means repeating the same screens over and over again. Speaking of checkpoints, whenever I died instead of respawning instantly, the screen scrolls forward through the previous screens of the level. This means for the first half second after spawning, I can't move due to the scrolling and will inevitably fall into a pit unless I stand in place until it finishes. I know a half second every death doesn't sound like much, but it adds up and becomes annoying very quickly.

Reasonably entertaining mobile port. Only lasts around an hour and a half and the story isn't particularly deep, but I think it's worth a playthrough.

Edit: this was originally a negative review, but I've been on the fence about the game after completing it and have to conclude that my criticisms were not bad enough to warrant it. I'll leave it as a positive review that highlights the games weak points.

I am enjoying playing through Cluckles' Adventure, the controls are tight and movement and attacking feels very fluid. However as I have gotten to the third set of levels, its flaws are standing out more and more.

-When Cluckles falls, she plummets like a rock. This has lead to many deaths when I need to jump over a hazard and can't react before she falls to her death.

-There are several types of enemies and hazards that throw projectiles. Often they will attack the split second that the screen scrolls onto them leading to a cheap and unavoidable death.

-In the first two worlds, secret walls are hinted at by placement of a butterfly hovering around in the area. But in the third world, there are many secrets that have no butterfly which means I have to hump every wall, floor and ceiling until I find the one that leads to a hidden room.

-and finally a minor issue, the level select screen is very slow to navigate with a controller, it's far quicker to use the mouse to get to the level I want to play.

The true successor to Fallout 2. An outstanding achievement from an indie developer.

Believe the hype. Easily one of the best games I have ever played.

23/10/15 Update: The game runs with a fresh install now, although it still requires an extra gamemaker install before playing, and doesn't run as a steam program.
It took the developer almost 2 months to even attempt to fix this issue and he only seemed motivated after he was shamed on reddit.

Completely broken. The game has been on steam since the 31st of August yet has no reviews or screenshots. It seems the game won't run on any Windows system due to the period at the end of the games folder in the steam directory. I had to run it in SAM to get the minimum playtime required to write a review.
