Game requires a lot of singleplayer grinding, and the singleplayer sucks. The ai is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they will stay with you no matter what the level no matter what you skill until the end of the last lap and just let you win. Heavy manipulation of every race to make it 'seem' like you barely won. tryharding and putting along within the lines will get the same result. Very unsatisfying. If it changes, I'll change my review.

update: as long as you avoid any single player levels that you aren't at or above the manipulation isn't too frustrating, it just makes the race way too easy as the ai will just forget how to drive in the last 30% of the race. Kinda boring but, you can get through your single player missions pretty quick.

Multiplayer is a hot mess as your racer's level will make a large amount of difference on the race track. Regulated multiplayer is pretty fun, but you will unlock all the rewards for the week in about 30-45 minutes. There are 'time trials' where you are trying to beat other players times... they aren't regulated and they take place with random item drops and ai players. Way too much rng for a 'time trial'.
You can get a universal box and a free daily box every day with very little grinding, but most of what you will get is 'crew shards' for racers you don't even own, so that feels mildly frustrating at that stage.

The pay 2 win in this game would honestly make battlefront 2 devs blush. It is very aggressive. You could spend quite a bit in this game and feel like you didn't get very much, and if you're f2p don't expect to grind things out, after a couple hours of playing expect to have to wait a week for more events to unlock before you can continue the grind.

I'm slowly warming up to this game, but it still has too many problems for me to be able to recommend.

i spend more time trying to get my valve index to work than i do actually playing the games. sometimes it wants to show video sometimes it wants to hang up on random things, sometimes it wants to completely reset itself, sometimes the controllers want to not track, sometimes the controllers want to show up on the other side of the room, sometimes (currently) it likes to not show up in the sound output list no matter how many times i restart/reinstall. I'm ashamed at how much i spent on something that spends so little time working.

edit: years later they seem to have fixed most of the problems I had.

Amazing game. Still needs to work on a few things, but it can be really scary and the kids are sexy.

could be great, but the changes they made to barbarian camps make the game nearly unplayable. You just spend all your time dealing with barbarians, and so does every other player. This continues on through the ages, not just early game. It is oppressive and I consider this to be a waste of my money. I have played/owned every civ game i could get my hands on since the first one, but I will be hesitant to buy the next one.

Edit: Changed to recommended because they fixed their game crashes and while it still lags a bit, sometimes, it is a major improvement.

Get ready to be angrier at your teammates then the other team. The games come rapid fire and are almost always a lot of fun. The 13yo making sex noises on his mic every 10 games or so is annoying, and to my knowledge, there is no way to mute individual players, but the games come and go so quick and you can easily find another lobby pretty quickly. The unlocks are all cosmetic which is great, there is no grind to unlock better cars. If you have a couple other friends that have the game it can be an insane amount of fun. One of those games that ruins the next day because you are having too much fun to put it down and go to bed.

The price tag seems a bit high for what it is, but you will quickly forget how much you paid for it once you start playing.

Really Really fun and addictive game. When it works.

They weren't ready for all their players though; if you can get the game to not crash, then you are in for an unplayable lag fest.

When they have fixed the constant (2 or 3 times a hour) crashes and increase their server capacity then the game is def worth your money.


Because people assumed that i had a crappy computer which was the reason why i was crashing/complaining:
