Although this game has "clicker" in its name, it's a unique one. It differs from the rest of its kind in that it is pretty engaging and has actual gameplay instead of eternal AFK progression.

Like every clicker, the game consists of several cycles of progression, where each is included in the next as repeating indefinite amount of times. The smallest cycle is the character progression (leveling skills and weapons) and it lasts several minutes. That is, you have to reset all your character skillpoints once in a few minutes in order to gain more stable progression (wax), and this part is where the core gameplay is. In order to progress acceptably quickly, you HAVE to be focused on the gameplay and constantly calculate and test new character builds in order to find what is the most efficient in the current stage. The more progression you gain - the more options for character builds are available, so it doesn't get old if you are into that kind of thing.

The most radical problem of the game is that it's actually a time trap. The game is addictive and really time-consuming, so if you start enjoing it - you risk losing too much time too soon. There are reviews by people who have more than 1000 hours, and I'm sure they genuinely played it for that amount of time and didn't just idly spin the counter for a laugh.

You are in war and need manpower. In order to extend conscription, you need to have high war support. But your war support is low, because being in war gives a huge decrement to the war support. So you can't extend conscription because you are in war. But you could, if you weren't in one. So when you are in peace, you can extend conscription, but once the war starts - you can no longer do this, so you are stuck with the lowest conscription rate (volunteers only, basically no conscription at all) for the duration of the war. 10/10, realistic and historically accurate.

Great game, if you play it with human players. But there is no point in playing it against the AI, since there is a number of ways the AI civs cheat: they basically play a different game. For example, this "happiness" mechanic, which stops you from extending your civ too fast, exists only for the player. There is literally no "happiness" mechanic for bots. So if you play single-player, you'll see them building 1 or 2 new cities within the first 20 turns, while you'll have to wait for the 50th turn to buld your first new city, or else the "happiness" will ruin your economy. In the late game they'll have 20+ cities, which is impossible for the human player due to the same "happiness" mechanic. That is if you play on normal difficulty.
Once you find out about these things, you don't want to play against the AI ever again, since there is no fun in playing a rigged game, especially when you are aware of it.

The hardest region lock I have ever seen in a steam game. Not only are you forced to play only on a handful of servers in your region, but you also can't change the game language and switch it to English, so you are forced to swallow that trash-grade localisation they discharged for you.

The trashy localisation is not just an aesthetic problem, it also makes searching for guides and info a real pain in the ass. You have to constantly decipher the names of skills, items and quests in order to make a proper search request in google. And this is not the kind of game you can play without google.

Meanwhile European (EU) and American players can choose whichever language and server they wish. If you don't live in the EU/USA/Canada - beware of those restrictions and of the fact that you are considered a subhuman by the publisher and will be treated accordingly.

There is no random map generator. There are just 46 pre-made maps, 34 of which require DLC's (about 1 DLC per 3 maps). Have fun with that.
