Funny af, friends not strictly necessary but advisable if you don't want to be constantly dealing with a worlds worth of abusive scrubs. In all seriousness though, this is one of the most enjoyable little online golf games around. Very fast action, very little bs, and a lot to play with in terms of mutators which really mix up the action. Online play is seamless and hilarious with your friends.

The future of football, and probably the greatest multiplayer game of our time. Stands shoulder to shoulder with the finest titles ever in competitive online gaming. It's addictive, they constantly add new content for free, and every game is different. A must play for anyone, even if you're not an avid PVP player.

Pretty great tbh. Fantastic action-packed and gruesome single player campaign, with a refreshingly old-skool multiplayer component featuring a variety of different awesome deathmatch modes. All in all an extremely tight package, a massive improvement on 'Rage', and a beautifully modern reinterpretation of a stone-cold classic. A significantly better game than I think most were probably expecting, and a huge return to form for id.

Heavy unrelenting future race 'em up, flat-out drum and bass soundtrack, difficult and at times painfully unfair and frustrating, but I should imagine that's how this kind of racing would be if it was an actual thing, so I can forgive them this. Regularly updated with new content for free by a team who clearly really care about their game - and good for them. For everyone, it is not. For people who like it fast and hard - Yes.

A game primarily dealing with the mass kidnap of thousands of enemy combatants using an elaborate balloon-based capture device, with the end-goal of integrating these stolen people into your own private army, whilst at the same time listening to an impressive ensemble of 80’s pop rock classics (RIP BOWIE). Also the finest triple-A PC title (I feel) ever to come out of Japan.

Quite simply put, this is bloody awesome.

Carmageddon is a series that has always unfairly been slightly overshadowed by the controversy which comes with it. Underneath the abysmal premise is a fantastic open world driving game, which will keep any high score junkie busy for hours. With the advent of leaderboards and friends lists, the replayability of this has never been more compelling.

The new game retains everything that made the original games great whilst adding so much more detail. The way your car gets torn apart in severe collisions is epic eyecandy, whilst superbly realistic. The physics are also great, with various power ups changing the gravity for better or worse. Its a truely manic experience, usually with (dependant on game mode) several ways to win.

I have played this throughout its Early Access release, and whilst at first the performance was sluggish, it has been a pleasure to watch the game develop and evolve into the beast it is now. Since the Beta release the performance has been fantastic. Yes, you do need a pretty decent PC to run this game well, but with the amount thats going on in any given round, this is understandable.

At point of writing I have only had a couple of successful multiplayer rounds. I guess this side still requires some ironing out, but it looks promising and i'm sure once the beta ends this feature will be fully functional. It certainly works in its current form, just a few matchmaking / game starting bugs.

So, if, like me, you're an old fart and loved it to death the first time 'round, you'll likely fall in love with it all over again with Reincarnation. If you've not played the series before, give it a go. It has it all: driving, killing, more driving, more killing, twisted metal vehicular destruction, racey double entendres galore and lots and lots of gore. 11/10

Great danmaku shooter, one of the best on Steam. Very frantic, very hardcore, not for players with heart conditions.

Superb. Big set pieces, action packed popcorntastic story, laser rifles, kevin spacey, big loud summer sci-fi plot (which robs from just about everything, yet comes off feeling all the more original for it). Multiplayer is fun. Graphics are mint. Ignore all of the foolish ignorant negativity amongst the other reviewers and give Activision your hard-earned money.

EDIT: I see a lot of people moaning about the peer-to-peer multiplayer hosting and how its not dedicated servers. I have sunk months of my life into the multiplayer in Call of Duty, on all the various formats, and the peer-to-peer technology is solid. From a business perspective, its a no brainer. In my experience, it plays just fine, and with the advent of ultra fast broadband, and every day computers gettings more and more powerful, its only getting better. I have NEVER understood the gaming scene's constant criticism of this methodology. If you have an issue with lag spikes or other common online glitches, don't blame the way the game is hosted, blame the infrastructure of the internet. That, essentially, is what has to improve for these kind of glitches to become a thing of the past.

COD is (or was) as big as it is because of its PvP multiplayer, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
