It's cute, quirky, repetitive, and has an okay soundtrack.

At its core, you're playing rock, paper, scissors with anime girls. A lot of the attacks are flashy and colorful, but the art style is very inconsistent and graphically it looks extremely poor and lazy. Everything is entirely menu based, including navigating between locations. This means you get no overworld to traverse or explore. Actually, forget exploration, the game's story progression never advances beyond "go to each of these options at least once to proceed". The music is decent enough, though it doesn't properly loop, which is pretty annoying. There are no side missions or secondary objectives other than collecting more animes for your card list.

Speaking of which, the collection aspect entirely equates to pouring the currency you earn after battles into a machine which will dispense a random character. As you advance further in the game, more characters are added to your potential shopping pool, so if you're goal is to collect everything, your only option is to keep buying more cards until you get lucky and it pops out what you need. There is no method of getting specific cards outside of the vendor.

So why should you get this game?

Well, if you're into the competitive aspect, there's a lot of fun to be had in the multiplayer. The combat system isn't super deep, but there's more to it than you would initially assume. Victory isn't as simple as just mashing through menus; there's plenty to consider when making plays. There is some RNG involved, but generally if you outplay your opponent, you can expect to win.

If you're looking to scratch that Pokémon itch, this probably isn't the game for you. If you'll buy anything filled with colorful lolis, chances are you already own this, so you wasted your time with this review.
