I took my time with this game. Exploring, interacting, doing side missions, all worth it in the end because of the engineered dialogues and scripted behaviors of the people(NPCs) around you. Whether they forgive you or want to attack you and give up, or because you did something that benefitted them like not kill people from a group they identify with, among other things. The way you interact with the world carries weight in determination of events unfolding as Artyom proceeds in his journey and you play in this world.

I fell in love with all the characters in the story but if you speedrun through this game and not pay attention to the dialogue heavy scenes then you may not feel the same way since it'll be tough to be influenced into having feelings for the characters, to make a connection, if you zone out on what they say or don't choose to listen. So take your time and stay and listen. There's so much dialogue and information shared between the characters in this universe. If you hear anyone speak just stay around them so you hear what they have to say, it was always very interesting how the NPCs interact with one another. I've never played a 3d fps game as rich in scripted conversation between NPCs as what I experienced in this game and part of that is because of the bond I formed with every single crew member in the exodus toward clear skies, and also characters in their respective locations. A huge chance of the player being emotionally invested in the characters is if the characters are written with care and thought and I think 4A Games did an incredible job at this!

4A Games retained the Metro feel and made it open world and it's marvelous. If you explore enough of the several open world locations you have a good chance of upping your readiness in the form of gear all to your advantage against the wildlife and dangers of enemy monsters in the form of human beings. The wild life is dangerous, icky or innocent, or all three combined because this is not only your world it's every survivor's world and also every new genetically altered lifeform's birth world too.

The world detail of Metro Exodus and atmosphere it creates is next level. If the graphics look this good on the non-Enhanced Edition I can't wait to see what the fourth Metro game will look like.

I'm so glad I played this game. Please play it if you are looking for a first person action adventure game that really takes you somewhere you have never been before, and leaves afterthought.(And play the DLC!)

So first thing I want to say is this game has lots of jump scares, which annoyed me at having less-than-a-second jump scares appear in front of my path several times. It dragged me out of the game world's creepy atmosphere and I didn't like that.

Although the story was overall interesting and unexpected, it was a bit difficult to follow. I blame this on the overall scene transitions that setup what follows in the game, like using black background with white text majority of the time to continue the story in conjunction with the game scene setups feeling abrupt enough to be like "oh okay now we're somewhere else?" after reading the scene introductions and being placed in the game world.

I found the game world to be horrific at times and creepy at other times, as I thought the scenes were directed in an awesome way with placement of assets and such. Very good! So I really loved the atmosphere. It didn't need jump scares in my opinion and I think it was detrimental to the overall enjoyment of the game.

I found it unnecessarily difficult to remember what objectives needed completing in areas with multiple goals. There is no journal or objective UI to remind you of what you have left to finish, so if you forgot you forgot and you probably have to scrub through a walk through video at which point you'll have a "oh yeah that thing" moment when you are reminded THROUGH A VIDEO and not in the actual game.

I got it at a reduced sales price and I recommend it on sale if you are any fan of horror.

A spooky, fun and short game where player has to search for and find locomotive parts in order to fix and escape in a car all the while running from Siren Head before the player is killed.

Amazing first person thriller/horror adventure game that puts you in the shoes of a spaceman on Mars that discovers a conspiracy in the corporation that he is employed under and it plays out like a psychological horror space odyssey.
I loved the gameplay, graphics, animation, score and voices. They were all so well done and it felt like I was playing a movie. It has full support for xbox controller which was nice.

If you're a fan of first person horror/thriller adventures than this game is a must play.

What initially attracted me to Summer of '58 were the graphics and the night vision camcorder gameplay. I love horror games with immersive worlds and I'm a big fan of using night vision from the perspective of a camera, and this game left a good impression on me!

I found the environment superb and incredibly detailed. The graphics are amazing! I really enjoyed the sound design. In combination with the environment, sound effects helped immerse me into this world as they both make up an intense atmosphere for the game. When areas are unlit, it is pitch black and you rely on your night vision from your camcorder to see in the dark. The game forces you to look at some events unfold even if you for example walk backwards in hopes the sound effect plays to validate that the scary scene already happened and you are therefore safe. You're not!

I enjoyed the story and how it was told. Some information included in the game on the topic of orphans after the war interested me and so I did some light research and one of the results of WW2 was a large population of war orphans in the Soviet Union, and so this game has some real world history incorporated into the story and I think that's always neat as it serves the potential to teach something as it taught me on my playthrough.

Summer of '58 has a lot of jump scares and plenty of atmospheric horror and so I would say a nearly even combination of both, with more atmospheric horror. While the game starts off as creepy, it gets incredibly scary the more you progress.
I eagerly await another chapter of this world!

P.S. Loved the level selection room!
