Banger songs and charming storytelling.
Musical bullet hell is such a cool idea, but I personally run into a lot of issues with inputs being eaten, resulting in losing some no-hit fights more than I deem necessary.

I loved playing through this game, but the endgame can be extremely difficult.

As someone who is not a fan of horror games,
this was surprisingly fair for the most part AND,
did not blindfold me with darkness.

For the best experience, start as Miriam and branch out from there. If you're new or are looking to blow through the game for a good time, starting with Normal is best. Having 100%'d all modes, Nightmare as Bloodless, I think the changes between difficulties are hefty enough to throw you for a loop and I recommend both.

Classic power-up progression and exploration, easily putting it up there among the Metroidvania Indie legends with Hollow Knight and co. If only Gremory was a better designed fight on Nightmare...

Favorite part has to be the sound design of the game.

The sound design of the Distress Beacon sounds are kind of like earworms to me. They did a wonderful job in retaining a very homogeneous OST, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You have to understand that when you start off cheery in Timber Hearth and slowly move on to other parts of the game where the exploration can get somber, the instrumentation/sfx brings gravity to the situation.

A painful part of the game has to be Archaeologist, if you do opt for it. There's no checklist of items to scan specifically. There's a handful of reddit posts describing what's missing from their Computer but no way to know what to pick up specifically, such that eventually, someone knows.

More surprised there isn't a site that takes your save file and looks for specific flags that haven't been triggered for Archaeologist.

8/10 Would let my ship be sliced in half by the Quantum Grove again.
Primarily lost points for Dark Bramble skill issues on my part.

Pokemon Nuzlocke,
but instead of watching your HP bar drain,
you get to hear:

Death's Door!
MORTALITY CLARIFIED IN A SINGLE STRIKE!

Early Access Review
This game is great and deceptively complex.
Adding achievements would probably be pretty cool.

A heavy class runs at me, I shoot at him and I do no damage.
I die. I am punished for his reckless behavior. Very balanced game.

It takes great influence from Kentaro Miura's Berserk,
while changing a lot of the formula up so that it can form its own proper identity, which is a difficult feat to accomplish with such a complex genre. It does have its bullsh-t moments but I think that's entirely part of the period and writing style of the story.

The game makes great use of sound design and stills to push the idea of horror further without using jumpscares. It is horror, done correct.

The Easy and Normal mode are enjoyable but Hard Mode plays like a speedrun with the way your resources diminish, if that's for you, great, but I'll stick with Easy and Normal. If you do play Hard, I recommend getting a quick-save mod.

it calls itself an idle game and yet it primarily rewards active play

It has made having to play Lobotomy Corporation pretty unnecessary when they restate most important details or important elements in this game. If you want to get into Project Moon's lore, skip Lobotomy Corporation and go for this. There are far too many issues to list with Lobotomy.

If you're playing this game without the help of a guide or shared strategy, this game can get ridiculously slow with all the thinking you'll have to do when planning synergies and cost-effective cards. If you don't mind the arduously long puzzles, then this might be it for you.

The music is amazing.
