A combination of grueling difficulty and having to overcome it so the main character can overcome her own obstacles and learn how to love and accept herself is just the most beautiful thing in the entire world.

This game is so simple, yet every single thing is executed flawlessly.

The main story and levels are hard enough that your average player will struggle a bit, but feel a great sense of achievement and progression both in themself and for Madeline once they complete it.

The post-game content is so ridiculously hard, and is there for the more hardcore players that want it. There's even challenges that aren't a part of the achievements, some of which are next to impossible.

"Funny how we get attached to the struggle.
Promise me that you'll take care of yourself, okay?"
Describes this game perfectly.

Hands down my favorite game of all time. If you're on the fence about this one, do yourself a favor and get it.
