$20 game with $60 graphics

Spoiler alert: I compare this game to L4D2 more times than I've misheard walker saying "stinger"

Keep in mind the whole time I only played as a group of 2 with 2 bots.

My main complaints might not effect you if you always have a group of 4 and don't have to deal with the WORST AI I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN A GAME. I've never complained about AI in a game until now. Even call of duty campaign enemies have more brains than Evangelo the teleporting houdini who has a buckshot ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and prefers to run in place for 5 minutes instead of reviving you. I don't get how they can program your ally bots far worse than L4D2, a 12 year old game made by THE SAME DEVS? (I'm sure the dev team changed talent a lot, I know)

On top of that even in a full multiplayer group of 4 everyone is stuttering around at 2fps like they're using grandma's pacemaker for an internet connection. Being physically blocked and pushed around by AI or friends that stutter around like this is infuriating, especially when you are on a higher difficulty with friendly fire. Expect to get into arguments about who stepped in front of who and why it's your fault that Walker has a hole in his left lung.

On recruit, playing as a duo with my buddy (you can't turn off the 2 additional AI allies) was ridiculously easy, sort of as expected, didn't die once until we got pushed off the map one time. More of a difficulty for playing twice over to figure out different builds and characters and early farming those supply points for deck building. My first experience on veteran however...

Not a fun experience, at least with AI teammates that take "sticking together" far too literally. On top of that, the amount of special ridden spawns seemed to triple in one difficulty increase from recruit to veteran, and all the specials seemed to be made of diamond coated kevlar from how many bullets it takes to take one down if you don't hit the weakspot (which is usually armored or hidden behind stuff). I found that the best way to beat veteran with 2 people is to just use a broken melee build with a fire axe to one shot the specials and hope you don't get 90% of your health trauma'd.

The deck system seems...okay. They definitely needed something like it to make it different from L4D2 and to keep people coming back and playing. I think they did it pretty well, but would definitely like to see more cards added over time.

The story was generic. The characters are generic (I can't stand Holly's voice, she gives me Borderlands 3 Ada PTSD). Didn't expect much on that front so I can't say i'm disappointed. A whole playthrough is actually pretty long, much longer than standard L4D2 i think.

For whatever reason they decided to make the main menu into a far cry style home base where u wander around and interact with the NPCs except you don't interact with the NPCs at all because individually walking to each vendor NPC is pointless since all the menus are connected if you just click tab. Oh deck builder guy over there? Too bad. Why should I walk over to him when clicking tab gets me to it. The base ends up being a "what can I parkour on while I wait for my friend to finish his deck" simulator. Feels like they wanted to do something with it and just didn't.

Swarm mode was a mistake, just don't play that, ever. It's like everything you hated about L4D2 versus mode except there's no objective. You just survive the longest in a fortnite bubble that constantly shrinks, against 4 VERY FAST SPAWNING player controlled exploders and crushers, and then swap sides. L4D2 did it better by far.

Gunplay is decent, would've liked a bit more unique guns rather than 4 different variations of the same rifle, and then the standards from L4D2. But at least they added attachment pickups! -which you can't remove... or swap onto a different gun... or drop for a friend...

Graphics and optimization, yeah its good. First game i've seen running DX12 that doesn't make my pc explode. Solid 120+ fps on a GTX 1070 on medium-high ish. Definitely looks more visually appealing than L4D2 (the 12 year old game that's still better even without workshop support)

Despite having 9 different* (3 variations of 3) special zombies, I feel like they are far less memorable and clear as to what they are, compared to L4D2, as well as less scary, harder to differentiate, and bullet spongey on higher diffs. There are the bosses that show up once in a while, kinda cool except when they summon a horde of 20 crushers alongside them so you have to ignore the boss for 5 minutes while u beg Evangelo to take the hits for you.

The game COULD improve on a lot and end up being amazing, but for right now, it's not, or at least without 4 players, and I heard matchmaking is abysmal.

A lot of people got B4B from the xbox gamepass, which is what you should do and don't spend $60 like I did. Or wait for a sale, a big sale, $20 at most really.

One of the greatest games i've ever played..

Also I walked down a hallway for 3 hours for an achievement.
