The first half of the game is quite fun and enjoyable, with very cool visuals, catchy music, and a Mario Galaxy-like vibe. But as the difficulty ramps up, the experience turns frustrating and annoying. Many mechanics are poorly explained, forcing you to learn through trial and error often at the cost of lives.

The game design is riddled with momentum-killing moments. I found out that playing slow works better in many cases, which is kinda nonsense since you find many typical Sonic speed-up things. Also, what’s the point of playing a game in such a boring, slow way?

The power-up system is weird, with constant notifications for the start and end of effects, which are already obvious. This again breaks the flow, questions your intelligence, and reminds you that you’re playing a baby game.

The controls are not precise, the lock-on feature is a disaster, frequently targeting distant enemies or canceling your double jump at the worst possible moment. The feel is extremely snappy, sometimes you feel glued to some wall or something.

It’s such a shame because the game had so much potential. The graphics, music, and themes are fantastic, creating a world you want to like. But the lack of polish, poor balancing, and clunky gameplay drag it down.

I love the story, which is engaging and well-told, with characters full of personality.
The gameplay is smooth and interesting, exactly what you expect for this type of game.
The low poly visuals are surprisingly nice and fit the game perfectly.
Who knew simple shapes could look so good?
