Early Access Review
TL;DR The game is fun if you get to play it, but I don't think you're missing out if you skip it either

The game isn't ready yet in the current state. The gun play is fun, but that might be the only one that's going for it. Here's some of gripes that I have with the game at the time of writing

Shooting Range
Shooting Range offers tutorials, but they are... pretty minimal. Of course it wouldn't matter much if you just want to hop in the game and shoot some stuff, but I feel like it's unfortunate that the tutorial isn't as extensive as the gameplay would be. The only stuff that's explained in tutorial are the stuff you have to look for, resource management, VOIP, etc. There has yet some important stuff like :
  1. Classes Explanation
The game doesn't explain what each of the classes' responsibilities are, weapons and gadgets available to each one of them, etc. Some of the weapons are even overlapping with each other (why would you use DMR as an Assault if you can have DMR with RPG with Engineer)

  2. Squad Leader
The game doesn't explain much what you can do and what you should do as a squad leader, heck i don't think that many people knows that rally point is only available as a squad leader, heck, I don't think that many people even knows how to place them

  3. Buildables
Yeah, the game doesn't explain how to place/build sandbags, barrier, covers, etc by spending some of the squad points. And yet, this feature could determine whether you could win the game or not. You'd have to accidentally hold MMB or press O to be able to see this menu.

They say that the main usage of the Shooting Range is to test out guns and attachments combination, but even then, there's no easy way to switch out guns in this mode. You'd have to respawn, switch your weapon and mix some attachment, and redeploy back onto the field, only to find out that you're back at the starting place. The game also doesn't remember how you build your weapon in the normal server, so you always start with base weapon with no modifications.

Weapons, Attachments, Gadgets
The game offers an abundant choice of weapons and attachments coming with them, and also gadgets that are exclusive to each of the classes, but here's some of my gripes with each one of them :

  1. Weapons
In most game, weapons obtainable in higher rank would be better compared to the weapons unlocked in early game, but sometime it doesn't seem to be the case in this game. Sometime a higher ranked weapon is easy to control, but the other time the recoil would make you miss all of your shots. I think this has to do more with how confusing the stat bar are. I wish there was a way to compare each one of the weapon from one to another.

This lowkey kills the purpose of unlocking a higher tier weapon. Of course, progression isn't an issue in this game (if you can find a playable server that is), but once you have a weapon that you're comfortable with, there's no real reason to play with other weapon.

  2. Attachments
The game offers a lot of modification for your guns, from side rail, underbarrel rail, barrel, sights, etc. There's obviously stat changes for each one of the different attachments, but they also have the same problem i mentioned earlier with the weapons, higher tiered attachment isn't always better. Heck, some of the stat changes are negligible, you might as well just stick to the ones you're used to.

Now for sights... the game doesn't even show you how it looks like when you're modifying your gun. So you better pray that it's usable when you spawn.

I just wish each of the attachment comes with short explanation on what it does, just something like
Some sort of attachment, increases velocity but also the chance of you missing your shots

    Tell me what does S D N-6 762 do compared to V A M B-762

  3. Gadgets
Some of the gadgets come with a short text to explain what they do, but some of it doesn't. Only a few weeks ago that i noticed that you can heal yourself and other people with medic's gadget, not their bandage, and also how the different RPGs has their own drops and confusing sights on how to shoot them.

QOL and some other stuff
These are some of the infuriating stuff that I found when I played the game, that I have no other place to put :

  • The game doesn't explain much about the available gamemode, to this day, If you ask me the difference between Conquest/Infantry conquest and Domination, I wouldn't know the difference. It'd be nice if the selection comes with a picture or a short explanation if you hover over them.
  • Speaking of game mode, some of it is just annoying/unwinnable. Capture the Flag is a mode where you steal the other team's flag and bring it back to your base. The exception is that you also need your flag to be in your base to be able to get a point. And yes, the game doesn't explain it.
Invasion is a game mode where you capture a point to push your territory further and further, and most of the time, the attacking team will always win due to how long the time limit are. Of course the devs can revamp these mode to make it more balanced and more fun to play.
  • Switching sides is a problem in some mode, especially Invasion. I heard it's server side but when the player count becomes unbalanced, the game is just over and unfun at that point.
  • Server, or I guess, the player count is a problem. At least on weekdays in Asia side, the playable server is 1, you'd be lucky to get 2 server running with people with it.

After that long and winded explanation, I'd still recommend this game to someone else. I wanted this game to become better and I'm pretty sure it'll be when it reaches the full release. The devs got the core mechanic right and they just have to keep the player count running.

the best free game i ever had. dota 2 is fluid. each time you play, a new experience rise, for me atleast. Unless, the sea community is not terrible, i would recommed this game to my pals.
