If you are okay with a slow beginning (~3h introduction) and repeating of just established information, this game is a great RPG.
The happiest murder mystery of all time!

Surprisingly good . Negative points are occasional rather simple graphics, reuse of environments / dungeons, , and some of the dialogue (including the weird, drawn out intro) being cringy.
Gameplay wise very competent. I'd compare it to Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD. The island makes leveling less of a grind, and the digivolution/deevolution system is really good to try out a lot of variations.
The PC port is well done, except for the keymapping - instead of binding keys to functions, you can only bind input to the controller buttons, which results in weird defaults - right strg to exit to the menu?! No mouse control in almost all menus. Xbox 360 controller recommended, but technicly not necessary. Performance wise steady 60 fps, no crashes.

From a purely narrative standpoint one of the best games I have ever played.
While the gameplay is lacking to say the least, the storytelling, characters and music are exceptional.
A sad, heartfelt story, with some humour mixed in.
