Absolutely amazing! Great gunplay and level design can only be taken higher! If you love games like Quake, Dusk, Hrot and other quakelikes, if you played the demo for ASKE and loved it, if you breathe oxygen and you have red hot blood coursing through your veins, PLAY THIS GAME.

Legendary shooter, of a quality unimaginable. Easy recommend if you like FPS games AT ALL.

CRUDOX CRUO

Great Heretic/Hexen clone. There's an element of Witchaven here too which is well appreciated. Polymorphing is fun but would've liked to see more of it. The last levels drag themselves a bit, but overall a great experience.

A truly fantastic game!

Extraneum takes what Wolf3D started and proceeds to crank it up to 11. Gorgeous soundtrack, tight gunplay, fast paced action, crazy collectables. It's got it all. What are you waiting for, grab this badass gem!

It just didn't need to be open world. There is absolutely no reason for it. The upgrades to the 5 characters, as well as the main perk tree are rather pointless and it doesn't help that the open world is mostly repeated areas copy pasted throughout. Overall a forgettable experience. Great narrator and some decent writing there but the decisions, much like the overall game, are mostly binary.

It didn't need the open world at all and would have benefited from a linear design with more expansive areas, better loot distribution and just in general better pacing.

I want to love this game, I really do.

As a massive fan of Serpent in the Staglands and the learning curve of that fantastic unique cRPG, I had full faith on the team and back this game from the get-go. It since went through a billion iterations and I didn't mind as I still believed they were gonna make a unique game with unique systems, regardless of game length or development length.

Then it came out and it was a buggy mess. Then the lovely couple at whalenought studios kept at it with patches, fixing the many serious bugs of the game such as respawning enemies on loading a game, and unbalanced combat. And while some serious bugs remain, it's a largely playable game.

However it's not a fun game. Not because of any mechanical difficulty but more so due to how barren and labyrinthine the environments are, with areas repeated way too often and waaaay too big without any rhyme or reason. The AI of both enemies and companions is completely random, verging between hyper aggressive or super passive, ignoring you completely.

The combat is also extremely random. There is no real structure and the aiming system, while semi effective, is barely useful as most of the game is covered in darkness, and while in darkness you cannot aim at specific limbs. Something as simple as clicking on an enemy to attack becomes almost impossible when in a bridge or a door entrance. The durability of items you pick up also renders them single us, breaking after 1 shot or attack. The repair skill is so hard that even with 2 dice and lvl 4, I still cannot repair anything in my inventory.

It's truly heartbreaking that the game is not fun in its core, bugs or not.

With a bloated and empty labyrinthine world, boring uninteresting and shallow combat, lack and a lack of direction, I can only advise that you stay away. These core issues go way beyond anything a patch can fix.

Bloody Excellent Shooter.

Regardless of what you expect it to be or not to be, this is a solid, original and fun title. Embrace the pre-post-soviet depression!
