THis game wants to be "difficult", but it does so in the cheapest possible way: by making the enemies stupidly hard to kill and let them deal out a lot of damage. Even the dodge mechanic is almost useless, and blocking is untenable.

The Early Access says a playthrough should be about 10-20 hours. Well, I'm 19 hours in, and haven't even SEEN the Second Boss.

This game is a pain in my ass.

You should play it.

Man this game is hard as sheet. I mean, the gameplay's great, but healing's unreliable. You don't really lose much when you die, and I haven't seen a whole lot that penalizes you for dying besides the map resetting. But it's still annoying.

I really like this game, honestly, and I don't regret pre-ordering the digital deluxe edition. I don't understand why it's getting a smuch hate as it is, especially since there's actually a lot more to do than in Overwatch, which it constantly gets compared to.

Cute. Fun. Good story. Neat little animations. Great buy at 3.00.

I usually just write short one or two line reviews for games, but I think Oxenfree deserves so much more. It's an amazingly crafted adventure game with some of the best voice acting I've ever seen in a game like this. The fact that it's an indie game honestly surprises me. It's got some scary moments (I'm not done with the game, only about 3 hours into my first playthrough, and I intend at least one or two more), but mostly it's just beautifully scripted, and flows so well, that you can honestly get through the huge amount of really very satisfying dialogue while you're doing the exploring and stuff. I am slightly annoyed by the fact that dialogue doesn't carry from one area to the next, so if you want to hear all of a conversation you gotta stand around and wait just a little bit, but I honestly think it's worth it.

Take it from someone who usually plays JRPGs, action RPGs, and dungeon crawlers on an almost religious basis, Oxenfree is an adventure game for basically anyone ever, especially if you like creepy ♥♥♥♥.

Also the radio tuning mechanic is cool as hell.

I spent like .50 on it, and even at 4 dollars it's still a great buy. I'm 3 hours in and not even halfway through all the crap you can do in this game, on normal. Plus the hammer thing is awesome.
