This is my favourite Atelier by far. If you've never played an Atelier game before I highly recommend this one if you can afford the price. While Sophie has a lower price point, the overall story of that one felt a bit more flat than the Ryza story. The alchemy mechanics in this game are more beginner friendly than with Sophie in my opinion as well. Both entries are pretty liberal or nonexistent with timelines, but the flow of Ryza helps to eliminate any perceived pressure of time or resources in Sophie.

Do yourself a favour and buy this if you're still new or absolutely new to the Atelier series.
