A wonderful game not only because of the visuals but also because of the gameplay that lets you forget all the things you should do instead.

Ubisoft's behaviour, removing access to paid single-player features of games, is probably illegal in several countries and should be illegal in all countries.

Edit: The studio acted because of the ♥♥♥♥ storm and released the 3.0 update which will keep the game playable for the time being. While it is good to correct mistakes, I'm still wondering how such a decision has been made in the first place, without someone shouting within the company how stupid this would be.

I have played the original several times and absolutely loved it.

I like what they have done with the graphics in this remasted version. I also like the changes to the updates / skill / shop system.

The challenges are pretty nice as well.

What is incredibly annoying is this Water-Mario (I'm just going to call them as such) which pushes you back with their water stream. When you play on difficulty hard you will hate them very fast. They don't do any damage to you, but while getting pushed back you are also almost stunned, you can barely move around and you can't perform any kind of attack. To recap: Water-Mario is annoying in the regular game. HOWEVER, whoever had the idea to add a Water-Mario challenge should be forced to play this every single day on difficulty hard and is only allowed to stop when getting gold.

Beyond this one enemy, the way how the "grab move" is performed is pretty annoying as well. If your grab is successful Asterix or Obelix can perform your next move pretty much instantly, but when your grab is for whatever reason unsuccessful, it feels like an entire second until you can do anything else, which is highly problematic when you are surrounded by enemies who don't pause.

Also if your character is - slightly - turned in another way, away from a stunned enemy, your grab move will be unsuccessful as well. In my opinion, this is too picky.

All in all, I definitely recommend this game.

Early Access Review
Too many bugs. Too many toxic players. Don't buy this.

Original review from 2017-09-14:
I just lost my game progress of 242 hours due to connectivity issues, which caused for absolutely unacceptable reason the game to complete reset.

This should NEVER happen.

Update 2019-12-15:
Two years ago I noticed that I had a copy of DbD on my laptop. They game progress there wasn't up to date, but instead of losing all 242 hours I lost just ~40h or so.

I haven't played in a while, because the situation was really annoying and the bugs too many. I gave it today another shot and the game really seems to be much, much, much more stable now. As the gameplay was always fun, I will change my review now to a recommendation.

Update 2024-11-28:
The devs finally listened to us and gave us a 2 killer vs 8 survivor mode. What started as a cheat many years ago, is finally an official mode that is really fun to play. The only problem is the time for the killer queue, but maybe that can be solved somehow.

I'm not sure what this is or what it isn't.
Sometimes it feels like an anti-game game.
Inspiring and a bit annoying at the same time.

Metaphors. Psychology. Play it.

Excellent game art, good story.

The physics and the control makes me rage very often. Still not sure if I will ever be able to finish the game.

I can recommend it for people who are searching for this kind of challenge.
I can't recommend it for people who rather want to have logic challenges or some kind of interactive story.
