Early Access Review
Coming from a background laden with the likes of Mordheim, Necromunda, Gorkamorka it is safe to say that I am no newbie to the Warhammer universe, albeit somewhat disenchanted with the recent developments at Games Workshop. I was originally thrown into the wargaming hobby whilst young and grabbing up a copy of Space Crusade and Warhammer: Quest and I personally always favoured the Games Workshop adaptations that featured tonnes of "fluff", whose being warband campaigns that did not count on you buying the latest or greatest mini's but really becoming immersed into play system that demanded tactics.

Over the years Games Workshop has failed to meet the bar with many of its video game adaptations of its franchises. Blood Bowl was an epic example of how to mismananage, annoy and isoloate an entire sub culture of gamers away from your product by failing to meet basic demands.

Mordeim: City of the Damned is however a massive step in the right direction! The gameplay is immersive as ever with rich environments and fantastic graphics, the W,A,S,D controls in third-person rather than a strict "overhead only" approach layer upon another dimension of interactivity and narration. The actions and cut scenes have been carefully crafted to actually look good! The controls are consistent and easy to use, along with being able to grasp the basic rules for the game.

What I must commend Rogue Factor on the most is the balancing of the game. Many players threw the Mordheim original rulebook out of the window, because of many broken atrributes, the favoured the fan moderated and constructed 'Coreheim' rules. Rather than using the broken original rules, or further breaking or basterdising rules to fit, Rogue Factor have balanced this gameplay beautifully, making it a pleasure to play.

Please Rogue Factor, once you have completed this, do Necromunda: Tales of the Underhive.

Excellent game, a true depiction of Alien vs Marine combat, certainly pays homage to its origins which is a good thing. It is a shame that more people do not play this game.
