Swarm a gas station that's been taken over by seemingly military trained suspects, and get iced. Come back angry with C2 charges and make sure that there are no doors left by the time you're done clearing.

I had a routine, I was going to bed at a reasonable time, I had ♥♥♥♥ under control. Baldur's Gate RUINED EVERYTHING.

Amazing game. Let it mess you up.

I won't call this an Overwatch clone because Overwatch is enjoyable.

G-mod prop hunt with some extra bells and whistles, different game modes, character customization, magical powers, etc.

Doesn't attempt to reinvent the wheel, community is non-toxic. Great fun.

Relaxing little production sandbox. Kinda... special at times. Collisions can be problematic in ways that make the flying sabermaws from Skyrim look normal, but it's a good title.

Offers decent survival mechanics, but rewards are too muted to make the constant state of desperation feel worth it. There's no real underlying themes, just some Poe-esque visuals and overall mood.

There are definitely people who enjoy this game, but it's a big flop for me.

Early Access Review
How to put this...

I've been delving for many years. I've gotten extremely used to the standardized 'kill -> loot -> upgrade' mechanic that every dungeoning game seems to try and adapt in some way. The genre has begun to feel stale, to say the least.

And oh boy is Exanima a breath of fresh air.

The combat is entirely controlled by an in-house physics engine. There are no "animations," only muscle contractions resulting in movement of the body. The progression of the game's visual fidelity over the past few years has impressed me, with Bare Mettle paying close attention to player critiques of both gameplay and visuals.

Most exciting to me is the fact that this game is a preamble, a proof of concept if you will, for a much larger open world game that is still in development. Even MORE exciting is the eventual inclusion of low-latency multiplayer over LAN, which has at this point been confirmed by the developer.

If you're unsure about purchasing this game, I would visit their website and watch their videos. If the reviews on steam and screengrabs don't get you, the technical demonstrations sure will.

Lastly, please spend 4-6 hours in the practice arena before you leave a bad review. The game has a learning curve! :)

Solid free roam FPS with a good-enough storyline, fun gun-play, and a wealth of upgrades and weapons to be unlocked and purchased.

My only criticism at this point, having finished the main story line, was that even on the "hard" setting, none of the objectives presented any real challenge.

If you're a fan of previous FarCry games, this one won't disappoint.
