More Bugs Than a New Jersey Swamp!

Very frustrating campaign. I gave up after the fifth mission. The tank crew AI is dumb as dirt and the fifth mission would never complete. I don't find the Germany map as interesting for writing my own missions, so it's not even worth buying for that. Save your $$$

FOLLOWUP: When I had more spare time to kill, I reverted to the fifth mission and was able to complete it and all subsequent missions. Still, I have not opened it again since then, although I might look at it again after the next update.

I solved the ArmA 3 Contact single player campaign in about a week of playing off and on, only looking at a walkthrough video to solve the Carpe Noctem mission. I won't reveal what I got stuck on and how I resolved it , since that would be a spoiler for those who have not played the campaign yet. I also had to restart this mission once due to a bug. Unlike others, I did not experience frame rate below 35 fps, except for the bug, which broke more things than simply slowing down the game. Unlike other reviewers I was able to correctly use the spectrum device to "communicate" with aliens the first time, but rather than play classical music at it, it might have made more sense to be able to send mathematical sequences, such as prime numbers or powers of two. After I successfully solved the final mission, I looked at a walkthrough and was pleased to see that there is more than one way to play it.

If the only item in this DLC was the Contact campaign, I would have said "No, it's not worth spending the money", but you get a beautiful 12 KM by 12 KM map for building your own custom missions. The Livonia map is a lot like Chernarus with a real eastern European feel to it. Unlike Chernarus there is no coastline, but there is a river running through the region which is swimmable. Livonia is now my favorite map of the whole ArmA franchise. I daresay that there may be future campaigns using this map as Contact only used the southern half.

Bottom line. I wish there was an option for "mabye" or "mixed", but since I'm forced to choose, I give ArmA 3 Contact a qualified "yes", meaning that if you are into writing your own scenarios in a new map, yes, but if you are buying this just to play Contact, you may want to consider waiting until a discount is offered again in the future.

LIked: New terrain that is green! I got tired of dry Mediterrain look of Altis and Stratis.

Disliked: The campaign is not at all solo player friendly. I have not found a way to save the state of the game when I need to quit playing to go to "real life". Best I could do is "pause" it but leave the process running while I do other things.

In the current state, I cannot recommend it at the current price point, unless one is solely interested in using the editor to build their own missions.
