Extinction is a decent foundation for the start of a cool concept but instead of fleshing it out, they shipped what seems like a preview build or tech demo for a game that still needs a year of development. It’s shocking they are charging $60 for this and if you’re on the fence… WATCH SOMEONE’S… ANYONE’S review of this game BEFORE purchasing!

Not too unlike when Half Life 2 released and it felt plucked out of the future because it was so far and beyond the current PC standards, A Hat in Time is the definitive 3d platformer on PC by such a wide margin, I couldn’t even give you a decent 2nd place entry. It’s only rivaled on other platforms by Mario Galaxy and Odyssey.

Really cool style, ideas, and polish… but the combat system... I don't enjoy it so much that I will no longer be playing the game and I’m ok with missing out on everything else the game has to offer. I love core gameplay systems above all else and combat systems are number 1 on that list so I am quite particular on this facet of gaming. If combat system importance falls lower on your list below things like style, design decisions, art direction, and lore… you might find something here to enjoy.

Review of INTO THE BREACH, the unassuming leader in the turn based strategy genre that makes you feel like a tactical mastermind as you Rube Goldberg your enemies own attacks against themselves. Into the Breach is a rogue lite space tactics game that comes from the creators of Faster than Light (FTL) and shares some similarities.

The Shop Smart review of 20XX, a rogue light platformer that wears its past influences on its sleeves and not only honors the classic franchises that it imitates, but puts its own unique spin on the genre. The year is 20XX and your Mega Man is about to get a lot more procedurally generated!

I’m on a long journey down a railway line…I’m in search of somewhere I can repair my damaged rifle that I only got one good shot off with.

I stocked up on rabbit meat and made sure to boil some water to take with me before I set off into the frozen wilderness.

I’m now a couple of miles down the railroad track and I’m starting to freeze in this blizzard and sadly… it’s starting to get dark.

I find an abandoned train car that seems to have been derailed. I gather whatever sticks and branches I can find in order to make a small fire and set up my temporary home for the night.

I barely survive the night but as dawn breaks, I fill my belly and quench my thirst before setting back out into the cold. I’m still within eyesight of the train car and already I encounter a wolf that’s right in the middle of my path.

I move quietly to the right as it feeds on a deer carcass… I move across an iced over lake… I’m making progress around the wolf when I hear a cracking noise… the ice is breaking… I start a full sprint back to the snowy ground but I am not fast enough, I fall into the ice cold water.

I’m now freezing, my clothes are soaked and as I hobble my way back to the safety of the train car, hypothermia starts to set in.

I make it back to my old resting spot and have just enough wood to start another fire. I lay down and rest while my clothing starts to dry by the fire… I did not make good progress in finding the parts I need to repair my rifle today, but maybe… maybe tomorrow I will.

So, It's been a long stressful day at work, its 9pm and your too tired to play your three favorite games, Soul Hard Death 4, Lane Gank Misery Denial, and Melodramatic Japanese Fantasy Angst XXIIV… so what do you play… you play Cat Quest …and you have a jolly, easy going evening of improving gear, completing quests and withstanding an onslaught of feline puns.

LawBreakers, the latest multiplayer FPS from the brilliant mind that brought us Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. LawBreakers pits the Law vs. the Breakers in a high octane, crazy fast, arena hero shooter hybrid that doubles down on its semi unique gravity mechanic that forces players to think in the Z axis.

Orbox C takes the sliding ice box puzzle mechanic as seen in the Zelda series and dials that concept up to 11. This simple in concept puzzle game is quick to throw in angled deflecting ramps, portals, explosive blocks and much more to insure no two levels are solved the same. Although puzzle games are not usually my thing, I enjoyed what I played up until halfway through the medium levels stages where my inadequacy for puzzle solving hindered my ability to proceed. Perhaps you will be able to out smart this unique little puzzle experience.
