Timespinner, a short but sweet metroidvania with a unique time stopping mechanic. Use this power to your advantage in combat to halt attacks while you reposition yourself, or to freeze enemies in their tracks, to use them as platforms to explore new areas. Travel across two large world maps that are the same regions, but in different eras. While not the most challenging or lengthy metroidvania on the market, Timespinner is an enjoyable TIME sink.

- Not very challenging
- Kill / gather, side quests

Yet another Mexican inspired metroidvania from DrinkBox Studios that might not reinvent itself but instead, they took almost every aspect that made the original great and polished it to near perfection. Brawl, chicken, and pile drive your way through a very interestingly designed world in this weird hybrid of condiment, meets wrestler.

In Chasm you will be exploring a stitched together map that is different for every player, expanding your home town, fighting bosses, and expanding your arsenal. This classic take on the genre will be right at home for anyone who has played Symphony of the Night or any of the three GBA Castlevania titles.

They went for parody and “accidentally” made the best foundation for a Battle Royale yet! The physics based nature of it makes it equally tactile and janky but at least it feels super fresh. INSANE amount of weapons and maybe the most unique grenades of any game. Right now the performance is poor and choppy, similar to early PUBG in terms of jank but unlike that, this was free and plays into the nature of the jank itself. I get salty when dying in PUBG, in Fortnite, but in this it’s like “hahaha alright cool, you got me, go again” FUN/10

FAR Lone Sails is more of an “experience” than a traditional game but that also makes it the most memorable Indie game I have played in 2018. Along the lines of the game INSIDE, this is the type of game that should be represented in a video game museum as “games as art”. It’s rather short but you will value your time spent while operating your makeshift sailboat car train.

Wizard of Legend, a rogue-lite action game that has a unique spell combo system that has you linking together your mystic arts with the utmost tactical ingenuity. Bring a co-op partner along to elevate the fun or challenge them to an arena style duel to the death. Wizard of Legend offers a unique challenge that rewards your dedication with a giant arsenal of screen obliterating spells.
