This game is absolutely fantastic, but you know, it isnt for everyone.

First and foremost, if you just knew this series by finding this game on steam store, know that to fully experience this game you should play another 9 games. Yeah, the three "Trails in the Sky", two "Trails from Zero/to Azure" and four "Trails of cold steel".
This series is my absolute favorite, and I highly recommend you play them all. Yeah, you can skip them and read the events (the game has a kind of library where you can find a short summary of what happened till now) but im strongly against it, since you are missing a lot of good content, easter eggs and hype.

If you are here after playing these games and are a fan of the series, needless to say you are buying this lul. This game has the trails in the sky 3rd vibes, with the garden of recluse thing, random dungeons, etc. You are going to control A LOT of units overall, like over thirty, so getting good orbments, equipment and all isnt so easy, I really miss a button where you can simply pass all your orbment to another character without having to go one by one. But the pros strongly overcome the cons.

There is just one thing that i find it could be a lot better.
ATROCIOUS SPOILERS BELOW, DONT CLICK IF YOU DIDNT FINISH THE GAME:

The way they have so much difficulty killing core people makes me sad. The scene with Rufus at the end WOULD be an anime cliche where the villain sacrifices himself for redemption, but well, in a game with so much problem killing people, that would fit like a glove and be a good scene. But as usual, even when its certain for you that it is going to happen, a friendship-like anime cliched power happens. Idk if they have plans for him in future trails, but dude i miss the PEGI 18 (adult classification age) they did in Trails in the sky 3rd. I miss the dark and gore vibe you can find in Persona but rarely here.


Now, onto Trails through Daybreak!!!!

Speaking about the 3rd game as a single game, its really good (not as good as the SC, but thats a big understatement because SC is an absolute gem), but it is good. This one is played a little different than the others because you are visiting places you already been, so there are a lot of the same dungeons again, and you will notice isnt quite Estelle the main protagonist (thank god, she is too obnoxious).

A big plus are the new soundtracks. I cant stop listening to them. They are even better than the last two games, which already were peak content. Also, another big plus is that you are going to have quite a lot of party members on this one, trust me. And you will need to pay attention to them all, even poor Josette, which people despise but i like her a lot!

Also, you will notice the game is rated 18+ unlike the first two chapters. And believe me, that rating is all because of a damn single scene that you are going to have nightmares with, reeeeeeeeally later in the game. The darkness of it makes Persona plots sound for children. All in all, I wish Legend of Heroes games could explore better these "adult" aspects of mind more often.

A nice ending touch to the series, i cant stop recommending it. Lets go to Trails from Zero!

The best you can say right off the bat is: while the FC has a slow pace, which I finished more or less 50 hours, the SC has a deliciously good pacing, and even finishing it in 80 hours (with fast forward almost always on) there wasnt a single minute I was bored, because this game is REALLY GOOD at keeping you on the edge. It is by far the best plot in the trilogy. Hell, I think its the best plot in all of the Legend of Heroes games.

The gameplay is much like the same, with some buffs and debuffs to some gems, the strongest one being in defense orbments, since they reduce your attack and pretty much to balance it because earth wall is absolutely busted.

All in all, new orbments, new arts, new crafts, new items, new surprises, new olivier plots, and an absolute gorgeous "finale" with all strings attached, since you still have a sequel to play.

I came here to play this years later. Im not gonna lie, I tried to play this game before ToCS (Erebonia arc) but i had a kinda preconceived opinion of it. Seemed boring, so i totally skipped it. Went with ToCS as my first Legend of Heroes game. Had tons of fun there, even missing a lot of context from the games before (ToCS 1 and 2 you just miss some easter eggs, but ToCS 3 and 4 the game begins believing you know everything from the last games, so i dont recommend at all playing them before). Well, Trails into Reverie was just launched on Steam, obviously i bought in the same day; but guess what: I was kinda lost the entire tutorial since it relies heavily on the previous games (as such, this is no longer a story about Rean exclusively). I hated the feeling of missing all the story, so i was obliged to play Trails in the Sky and Zero despite being "older and unpolished" games, that was my opinion.

Hell, this review is about Trails in the Sky, so lets get it started, because i cant say how wrong i was.

NGL, the obnoxious and the boring personality of Estelle and Joshua respectively made me play like it was an obligation, but this didnt last long. First and foremost i cant spell in a few words how good the soundtrack here is. You'll end up playing with BGM higher than SFX for sure.

It is really hard to review this game alone, since it is just part one (first chapter) of the three games arc (Liberlian arc), and no doubt it is the weakest of the three in some aspects, since, returning to the characters, it is the game which will throw you A LOT of text about unknown characters you will finally know, all about their background (well, almost all of it). Gotta have a lot of pacience for this because the pace in the start is really slow, you will end up either loving or hating and just skipping it, but i dont recommend that at all unless you arent playing any Legend of Heroes at all (which i strongly dont recommend, LoH has already a special place in my heart as the best story ever in JRPG, even better than persona, that being my #2)

About the unpolished part i said, right off the bat you will notice this isnt right, as the orbments work in a different way (a more complex way, but i liked it whatsoever, even more than the ToCS one. I wish they maintain it but no). The sum of same and different sepiths in the orbment LINE dictate which arts you will have. For example HP1 has 1 water orbment and gives you Tear (1 water requirement). Some better heals, especially group ones require a sum of water and wind sepiths. All of that IN THE SAME LINE of the orbment. Which means, while warriors have like 3 or 4 lines of orbments, competent spellcasters (hello Olivier, best character ever in trails) have just one line, which helps getting the best arts at disposal. Some like 25 water sepiths, 12 mirage sepith and 15 space sepith, for example, which only these characters can benefit of, unlike ToCS which having the said gem, you can cast it.

Storywise this game is an absolute gem. Every NPC has a name, has a personality, so if you are more a gameplay guy and dont care much about reading, this game isnt for you. The plot right at the start is basically progressing from a junior bracer to a more respected one. Obviously this is just the tip of the iceberg, since there are lots of things, plot twists and surprises yet to come, its absolutely recommended, its bright (no pun intended).

Like i said before, this series is a gem, and i give it 7,5/10 since it is the unfair task to make you acknowledge all the characters and that can be slow. BUT, listen well, BUT: Trails in the Sky SC (the next game after this) is really an absolute gem. Its 10/10 in all aspects, one of the best games ever. Make sure you play this one throughly because you are in for a treat.

Jogo maravilhoso, inclusive saudades, queria esquecer a história e jogar de novo

Pra fechar (ao menos até o lançamento de trails into reverie), trails of plot twist 4. Você já jogou os outros 3, então independente da avaliação, você vai jogar ele igual kkkk. Na história, continua diretamente após o cliffhanger deixado no TOCS 3. O principal que você precisará saber, é que é vital conhecer a história da Trilogia 'Trails in the Sky' e da duologia 'Trails of azure/zero' para melhor aproveitar a história, pois crossovers acontecerão a todo o tempo, e é bacana entender o que está acontecendo. O gameplay está bem polido, melhorado. Sistema de fast travel está excelente pra não ficar perdendo tempo de office boy para lá e para cá. O sistema de batalha melhorou, está bem balanceado (que por sinal, no início será bem difícil).
Em termos de história, o começo é bem parado, para variar. mas a partir do segundo capítulo, vai ser uma montanha russa de feels. É claro, esperem muita síndrome de Naruto, onde você é o maioral, você salva todo mundo nos 45 do segundo tempo, todo personagem que morre com um negócio socado no peito, dá tempo de ficar conversando por meia hora explicando tudo, pra aí morrer subitamente. Tem vários clichês? Tem, é um anime né. Mas vale demais. Estou esperando pela sequência ansiosamente.

Finalmente, trails of plot twist 3. Antes de falar qualquer coisa, de toda a série Legend of Heroes, é de longe a MELHOR TRILHA SONORA. O pináculo das músicas gostosas de ouvir e que encaixaram bem. Uma prova disso é que no LOH:TOCS 4 a maioria das músicas são remixes de músicas do LOH:TOCS 3. Sinto vontade de jogar toda a história de novo só para ouvir a trilha sonora novamente.
Voltando ao gameplay, um ponto importante, que eu não respeitei mas com certeza vai deixar sua experiência mais imersiva, é jogar, ou conhecer a história dos jogos Trails in the Sky (a trilogia), e da duologia Trails of Azure/Zero. A história vai girar bastante ao redor destes jogos, e no TOCS 4, que provavelmente você irá querer jogar se chegou até aqui, vai girar ainda mais. Você pode jogar este sem conhecer a história do Sky e Azure/Zero, mas vai ser como assistir "Avengers" sem assistir os filmes individuais dos heróis. Irás entender o filme, mas com certeza conhecer o background de cada um dos heróis deixa sua experiência mais positiva. E por falar em Avengers, assim como foi em "Avengers: Infinity War", o final deste aqui deixará um cliffhanger bem cruel também, para tu continuares no LOS:TOCS 4. Fogo no parquinho!

Algo que tu notarás e certamente desaprovará instantaneamente é o fato dos party members "principais" (com exceção do protagonista) terem mudado. A gente se acostuma e é compreensível, pois vem a "chatice" para alguns de ter que conhecer novamente outros backgrounds, que leva um pouco de tempo, mas passando a parte da academia militar, o jogo é incrível. É o meu favorito dos 4 jogos.

Trails of plot twist 2 é um jogão, ainda melhor que o primeiro. É uma sequência direta, o que significa que tu precisas jogar o primeiro antes. O que o primeiro jogo tem de parado no início, este lhe recompensa com a ação desde o início, devida a forma que o jogo anterior termina.
O sistema de batalha ganhou melhoras, como o sistema "overdrive" (faz você e seu parceiro de link jogarem em sequência, independente da ordem que está os turnos), e é exclusivo do 2, tiraram do 3 em diante por ser bem OP.
A história continua mto boa, mas tem a mesma pegada Naruto, fulaninho morre mas tem 20 minutos pra ficar vivo para explicar tudo e aí morrer, fulaninho tá prestes a morrer e aí coincidentemente você chega na hora para salvar (isso acontece umas 10 vezes). É um anime poxa, sabemos que isso é uma bosta mas não tira o brilho assim como não tirou lá do Naruto e seus 700 episódios com isso.
O plot do primeiro jogo é o ingresso de estudantes na academia militar de Thors, e nos estudos externos descobrir atos terroristas e investigar a fundo até encurralar o indivíduo. Já o do segundo, Erebonia está em uma guerra civil, entre os nobres e os "commoners". Tirando as partes meh que lembram naruto que eu expliquei acima, o final deixa todos boquiabertos, trails of plot twist soube executar bem. Um dos motivos que tu irás querer jogar o Trails of cold steel 3 é a curiosidade de como o jogo progredirá daquele ponto em diante.

Trails of plot twist é um jogão. Tem uma pegada de persona (sistema de batalha muito superior, mas o quesito social ainda fica com o Persona). A história é muito boa, digna de parar para ler todas as interações (que ainda assim é confuso no início), e um sistema de combate bom demais (que fica ainda melhor nos sucessores).

O primeiro jogo, em comparação com os outros da série, é bem devagar, já que precisa de toda aquela "burocracia" para apresentar os personagens. Espere mto diálogo (ou monotonia caso não se interesse, mas eu recomendo muito pela história ser bem complexa) na primeira ou segunda hora.
