I've been playing Final Fantasy games for a long time. I kind of fell off after FFXII because I didn't really like the direction the series was going.

FFXVI feels like a breath of fresh air.

While I do miss the turn based mechanics that used to define this series and RPGs, This action system is fun and intuitive.

The story and characters are top notch. They nailed the dark gritty tone they were looking for, and made the game more mature.

I just want Handler Walter to call me a Good Boy just once.

Pleasantly surprised with this game.

Got on Steam sale for $5.00 and easily worth the time I've put into it so far.

Wasteland is incredible to explore.

Characters are great.

Gameplay super satisfying.

Progression is rewarding with car and character upgrades...especially the car upgrades.

I hear it is supposed to get repetitive in the late game. But the story so far will have me invested.

Hoo boy. This might be it ya'll. Best fighting game I've ever played.

I literally can't play because it takes 6 hours to build shaders.

I really wanted to like this game. Sadly, I don't think anyone should spend more than $12 on it.

Character creation is the GOAT. The amount of customization you can put into your squirrel ninja is incredible. Sadly, that is where most of the fun ends.

The world is beautifully crafted. Thematically, they absolutely nailed what they were going for. It is a world that has grown from another world that ended. Some areas thrive, while others are still destroyed with the pollution of the past. Excellent eye for detail.

Gameplay is boring.

Traversal of the over-world is a chore.

Fighting mechanics are not rewarding in any way. There was a lot of thought put into the customization of your character with armor and weapons. However, none of that changes the gameplay in any meaningful way. Enemies are just bullet sponges. And no other weapons are viable. Just guns. And the fights take so long it hampers the progression of the game.

The story is the absolute worst. I would have preferred a Banjo Kazooie vibe where all the animal-people chirp and bark at each other over what they decided to go with. A narrator who doesn't just tell the story, but he does the dialogue for every character in the game. But he doesn't just act out the characters, he describes what they say and their emotions as if he's reading the footnotes of the written dialogue. While this could have been interesting every once in a while, this is all he does.

The narrator is overused for every single thing your character does and interacts with that it sucks any remaining joy you could have gotten from the game. It is the worst story telling device I've seen in gaming, or any medium capable of story telling.

EVO 2023 is going to have a 25k cash prize for a twelve year old game.

Mahvel still hits like that.

It is crashing a lot for me. I guess that is the scariest part.

Not only the best horror game I've ever played, but this is the best game that is part of any existing franchise. Alien Isolation reads like a love letter to the original films.
