You play as Velvet Crowe, a 19 year old woman who turned into a demon (Therion) where her main mission in life is to kill her brother-in-law Artorius who has sacrificed her brother (Laphicet) during the events of the so called Advent (ritual). At the start of the game you see a younger version of Velvet and Laphicet being saved by their brother-in-law as they try to survive the Scarlet Night. A disease where other demons started appearing and taking other people's lives. Fast forward a few years, you see the protagonist and her brother all happy dandy until the anniversary of the Scarlet Night returns. This is where the SHTF and is the main objective of the game (to seek vengeance for the death of her brother)

Pros:
+ Better battle system than Zestiria
+ Plot is decent (the darkest story in the Tales series)
+ Equipment management is good (enhancing equipment to boost stats)
+ Soundtrack is good (Not YS soundtrack good, but decent)
+ Lots of graphics settings to adjust (supports 4K - upscaling) > 60 FPS @ 1080P Ultra/MAX settings

Cons:
- DRM (Denuvo) > this really depends on your opinion on DRM (likely to be removed months down the line)
- In game combat can feel like a grind sometimes (to be expected when playing a JRPG)
- Graphics are a bit dated (PS3 graphics)

Honestly, I would only pick this up if the game goes on sale. $64.99 CAD or your currency equivalent is a bit steep for a JRPG game. For 1/2 the cost you can buy Atelier Sophie for more or less the same amount of play time.

Edit: Spelling + updated review (AI bug fixed, your allies will now pull their weight in battle)
