I have a few dozen hours of experience with the original edition, and I can say the Steam edition is worth $30 whether or not you're excited about giving money to the devs (which you should be). Unless you're a seasoned veteran with years of muscle memory, the UX for general gameplay is vastly improved. That said, there are many low-hanging QOL improvements that I hope will be integrated in the coming months. As an aside, it appears that workshop mods are fixing some of these things themselves, though I hope the devs don't rely on that too much.

Not a perfect game, but a pretty perfect social experiment

Great game to play with friends, but not neccesarily for someone with no friends. Overall great.
