Definitely not nearly as bad as people say it is.

Very nice game, the closest we will get to an Underground 3.
Handling is a little weird, but actually pretty good if you install the free Unite mod (which i heavily recommend).
The selection of cars might not be the biggest but the cars that are in the game are very good and there's a lot of iconic ones.

The game has a slightly annoying emphasis on drifting, but a combination of tuning your car to a grip build, and installing the Unite mod, makes grip racing actually fun.

Sure the story/acting is cheesy, but its not like your favorite classic NFS games werent cheesy lol, so im not sure why people complain about it so much. Its simple and good enough, a NFS game doesnt need a crazy convoluted story. Infact, i prefer this game's simpler story over the atrocity that payback was.

Now here's something that this game does incredibly, and that is the visuals. I am absolutely bewildered and clueless at how this game looks so fantastic, and runs very very well. I honestly do not mind the constant night time at all, because of how gorgeous the game looks, AND - how atmospheric it is.
And atmosphere is something i believe the Need for Speed series lacked since NFS: Carbon, which was released in 2006 - 9 years before NFS:2015.

The open world feature in this game is not forced at all (UNLIKE NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND 2!!), you are always free to teleport to races and whatnot. But shockingly i actually found myself not teleporting to events and instead driving there because i enjoyed this game's visuals and atmosphere so much. Simply cruising around aimlessly was enjoyable because of it.

So yeah, i think this game gets a lot of undeserved hate. Give it a shot if you can't get Heat for whatever reason. And please, do install the Unite mod, it improves the game a lot and makes it much more enjoyable.

Also there's some classic NFS cars in this game, like the iconic BMW M3 GTR from Most Wanted 2005 :)))

If you don't play like a dumbass and use different weapons (and a shield) for each situation when necessary, this game is very good and honestly feels more fleshed out than Dark Souls 3.

This game is good if you don't want a glorified boss rush game like DS3 is (imo the areas in that game are mid as hell and the good part is the bosses). You got yourself a more RPG feeling game like the other two entries, however the bosses are the weakest of the series, albeit there are still quite a few boss fights that are legendary and memorable.

For the love of god, tread the areas carefully and explore thoroughly, the game will reward you handsomely for being cautious and aware, and will punish the neglectful.
