fantastic experience. a must-play jrpg for any gamer, even someone who isn't interested. the story & message of this game is absolutely fantastic, and the worldbuilding is top notch.

nasu does it again! amazing story, starts slow but really pulls you into it's mystery in a way that other nasuverse works don't, it was a bit off-putting the way the story flowed at first, but once you get used to it it really keeps you invested.

don't sleep on this one, it absolutely is up there with the quality of fate & tsukihime.

not a VN, but a KN (kinetic novel), except for one extra story there's no choices whatsoever in the game. could be babby's first VN, if you're afraid of having to make choices. works well as a standalone story.

incredibly deep & engaging story, with characters that are human to their absolute core. truly a masterclass in writing that any fan of anime, history, or writing should engage with at some point. nasu is able to convey suffering, ideals, & the human condition better than any writer since, i truly believe that.

too bad this remaster takes out the original MVs, along with the original theme songs; i'd recommend finding a mod that brings these back, or making one if there hasn't been one already. the new ones are interesting, but this product should have contained the old ones for the sake of preservation. also has the realta nua song edits; i personally prefer the old soundtrack, but it isn't too terrible to deal with. i know there's a mod to add the old ones back, so i'd recommend that for anyone new to this VN.

overall, please buy this product to support nasu's actual work on creating new worlds & VNs, i think there's a magnum opus even better than fate that he has yet to write, and i want to see that work come to fruition. i'd also love to see more remasters/remakes of his older work put on steam, with official english releases.

classic jrpg with all the tropes you know and love, once you're hooked you'll want to finish it.

play if you liked trails in the sky, tales of, lunar star story, skies of arcadia, final fantasy, dragon quest, or other classic franchises, but be prepared to grind for magic levels if you want to unlock all the spells & skills.

the bonus dungeons have a steep difficulty curve with the third one, but you'll want to do it asap if you're like me and enjoy a challenge.

p.s. follow a guide for removing the sprite filters if you play, but keep the map filters if you have an nvidia graphics card or you'll get severe graphics errors (do this after you make it to the first save point, not in a new game, or the game will crash)

fun game, under 20 hours for all cheevos, highly recommend
