Early Access Review
This has the makings of a near-perfect rogue-lite experience set in the Prince of Persia universe.

In true rogue-lite fashion, the first few to several hours of gameplay will be somewhat punishing. Still, as you empower the prince with new passive traits and familiarise yourself with the movement system, you'll find yourself completing run after run, getting better and better without losing interest in the loop.

Once you complete the game the first time, you can make runs harder to receive additional currency, allowing for more powerful passive abilities.

PROS:
- great soundtrack; each level has its theme that's reactive to the section you're in (some areas will change up the tune after you dive to a lower section or activate something)
- good art-style
- fun level design
- awesome movement mechanics
- empowering combat mechanics
- tons of replayability with much, much more to come

CONS:
- while the level design is good, there isn't enough variance in how things are put together; there are a lot of levels that have the same approach to certain sections
- objects like poles or flagstaffs can hinder movement and acrobatics

SUMMARY POINTS:
- you'll like this game if you enjoyed rogue-lites like Dead Cells, Skul, etc., or metroidvanias like Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, etc., and are looking for a quick, enjoyable experience to play now and then, or for hours and hours
- it's a beautiful, lovingly-crafted take on the Prince of Persia universe

If you liked the first game, you'll like the second one.

Plus, you get to keep your favorite weapons forever.

Games like this are why I roll my eyes when I hear people complain about the quality of games these days.

There will always be an overwhelming number of low-quality titles in circulation, but developers like Billy Basso will always be working behind the scenes to deliver something memorable and worthy of passing on to your peers and loved ones.

You won't find them yapping on Twitter or YouTube; you'll find them working hard to deliver an experience like the one you'll hopefully purchase after reading this review.

'Animal Well' is a unique gem in the platformer/Metroidvania genre, offering a nonviolent gameplay experience peppered with rewarding puzzles. Its ability to balance charm and unease is a testament to Basso's design methodology.

When you play this, go in blind, exercise your curiosity, and soak in all the magnificent details it offers.

Thankful I purchased this; I hope you do too.

This game is amazing and I cannot stop coming back to it.

I think about it at the gym, I think about it at work, and I think about it while playing other games.

I stopped playing games for a long time and this pulled me right back.

A lot of the negative reviews you're seeing are from mentally compromised Helldivers; I hope that they find the counsel that they need from Freedom Camps they'll undoubtedly be sent to.

Haven't completed it yet, but I'm impressed with all the added details to this remake. If you enjoyed the original RE4 and want to revisit it, I recommend you pick this up; there are some nostalgic experiences that are missing (e.g. the OG vendor voice, death-defying quick-time-events) but this is a great experience so far.

A sweet little experience for people looking to encourage fellow gamers. Worth the asking price for the good vibes alone.

Great demo.

Provides a solid feel for the game, which is a mix between RE7 and RE4. I'm really glad the game is in third person, as it feels more natural for the RE series, and it's an absolute pleasure to play as Leon again.

The game runs quite smoothly on my GTX970 (I know, I know, I'm using a dated card) and the controls feel fluid on mouse and keyboard.

I'm looking forward to playing the final product, but if you're on the fence download this demo and give it a try.

Oh and don't be a dumb dumb like me and run around the main hall for 7 minutes trying to get to the room connected to the hallway you see the police officer running in, when checking the camera at the front desk. As soon as you enter the police station (the start of the demo), you'll see a shutter door to your right with a big red button to its left. Hit that red button to progress to the next area.
