It is not actually co-op. You take turns playing. But it is the DX-Ball I remember.

I was not at all interested in grinding unlocks. I just want to have a reference for all the guns in the catalog. And this Full Access DLC does that. Being able to field strip any gun in the game is exactly what I wanted from this.

Basically, the free to play game is the demo. The Full Access DLC is the real product. And I recommend it.

I loved the new playable characters. This is the best set of PCs yet. None of them are useless for once. All of them are fun to play, with more than one correct build.

Unfortunately, you can only play those characters in this game. Which means I've stopped playing them.

The presequal's maps are trying and failing to make use of the (not actually that much fun) low grav movement mechanics. It ends up just making maps hard to navigate. And the quest's have you do a terrible amount of backtracking. I hate walking sim crap.

The jokes suck. Maybe I just don't get Australian humor. I was horribly let down.

The best part of 2 was Handsome Jack being a ♥♥♥♥. This whole, let's follow Jack's fall to the darkside thing isn't working. He sucks as a sympathetic character. He's just not interesting. And it doesn't do a good job of telling that story anyway since he just goes nuts all in one scene. There isn't this gradual fall like they were trying to let on.

I was also pretty pissed off by the fact that they decided to make money a scarce resource. I've played several hundred hours of Borderlands 1 and 2. This is the first time I've ever ran out of money. Until I started picking up guns just to sell (which is some tedious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) I actually ran out of money to buy ammo. This is a huge departure from the previous games, where money wasn't actually that important. And I don't think this new method is fun.

This is the worst Borderlands of the series. I just went back to playing Borderlands 2. My verdict is, wait until this gets very cheap before you let curiosity get the better of you. It's worth 5 bucks just to find out how far you can get before quitting in bewilderment at what they've done. But boy do I feel dumb for having let my absolute love of 1 and 2 convince me to pre-order.
