This is what State of Decay should have been.
The only thing I have against the game are the instanced maps rather than open world exploring, but ♥♥♥♥ happens.

The game is great in its first 75 hours of gameplay. Then everything wrong with the game starts becoming very clear.
things like
- AI UK annexing parts of Japan
- China annexing Turkey
- AI doesn't know how to fight two fronts (They will ignore the west front for example and lose really fast)
- The game is too short if you play one of the main countries such as USA, USSR, Germany, UK, France. (if you play as an underdog like, Turkey. It will take you up until 1942 at the least to become relevant).

However if you can look past that, the game is really fun, it has a lot of things I found very fun to play with. Such as the different government types, the different tech trees for military strategy and the industrialization process. (Simplified so you can focus on war). Also a lot of interesting ways to attack countries, (paratroopers, naval assaults, air superiority, tank rush, trench defense).

Great game to play with friends, not as fun single player though.

Paradox games great games and I highly recommend this one. They made this game so it is easy to mod, and fans of the game have made tons of mods to play with once you get bored of vanilla. GoT, LoTR, The Avatar, you name it.
