Game has a lot going for it:
- Building system is robust and fun. Being forced to rebuild each scenario is actually something I quite like.
- Combat is fun. PVP, PVE, Dungeons, World Events. Its all enjoyable. Feels tactile and def highlights a player's skill in most situations.
- The casual stuff in the game is great: fishing, exploring, farming and more.
- Cosmetic collection is pretty great too. Lots to buy if that's you're thing.
- Making combat builds and farming mods is also a great mechanic
- The tech tree system is also unique and interesting. It changes and resets between scenarios which makes it exciting to see what you unlock next time.

For all that it has going on there are plenty of reasons this game will frustrate you. Although i'm writing this at 700+ hours so take that with a grain of salt. Some of content and different scenarios are a bit half-baked. Still feels a bit unfinished. Pricing for FOMO "gotcha" cosmetics are really overpriced. There is a ton of stuff in the store that seems wildly priced, addicts beware. The pitfalls of predatory mobile game pricing and offers are def present. There are bugs and lag issues, not to mention exploits that the dev team does speak to, but address slowly. Its hard to tell the longevity of this IP right now. They have listened to feedback and made changes in many of the aspects of the game the community has voiced concern about, but still remains to be seen if they can continually produce new experiences for the players at a rate that keeps people engaged. Starting to seem more and more like they over-promised and will continue to under-deliver.

Either way, love this game, it really hits the spot in lots of ways. Its FTP so its no risk to try out. You can totally play this, not spend a dime, and get tons of hours of fun. Not a ton out there with this style and the fresh take on survival genre. Its a good time. 7/10

Never played the game at launch, but playing it now, I have no clue what the negative reviews are about.

Game has amazing action. The clunks and pops from busting heads, never gets old. Lots of different weapons to master and accomodate for different play-styles. Skill trees and penance systems for the 4 classes really enrich the game giving you something to chase ALWAYS. There is only a handful of levels, but the different ways that each level is organized based on the mission often makes me feel like I'm almost playing new zones. The difficulty is scaled very well. You always feel like there is a new challenge waiting. Aesthetics always deliver with 40k, but this feels truly "grim dark". Great atmosphere. Really enjoying it, still, after 100hrs.

Really love this game. It was such a shockingly fun time. I played the first one a fair bit so I was totally into a sequel that I never asked for or expected, but looked totally glowed up.

SO FUN! The action is so intense, so visceral. Just a blast. Totally unhinged multiplayer shenanigans and the whole time you feel totally bad-ass. The sound design is amazing, the guns really feel good to shoot. There is very little critique I have for this game. Sure it has bugs and flaws and will need more content in the future, but its bottled lightning. I don't know how they did it. 10/10

Great little game. A good mix between a cozy casual fish-boat game and occult mystery horror. If you snag it on sale then you've really won. Managed to 100% it in just under 20hrs and only one achievement was all that tedious.

If you are looking for research parts, try moving between the different merchant flotillas and sleeping for 48 hours.

No game really stands up to KF2 as a waves shooter. It has incredible action. The guns feel so good to shoot and the killing is very satisfying. The game play loop is challenging and exciting. The dailies and weeklies keep giving you reasons to play. Just a great time. The fact that this game is still around and able to compete for my attention after like a decade of being out is a serious credit to it.

That being said, it is super poorly optimized and suffers from some crashing issues, but nothing is perfect. It usually runs fine, but there are hiccups. When I played the game when it first came out, I had to stop playing because my game froze so much. Years later it usually runs fine, just hogs a ton of systems and takes FOREVER to boot.

I also like their rewards system. The cosmetics are a nice accompaniment to gameplay, but the micro-transactions are totally absurd. I don't really consider it an issue cause it has no effect on gameplay, but its laughable that they are asking this kind of money for ♥♥♥♥ in a 10 year old game.

Total trash, don't bother. This is nothing like the original two games. I don't know why, but it seems like an Asian based company just bought the IP, shoved into the same grinder that games like Lostark are churned from and put on the mobile FTP setting. Voila, a steaming pile of JARPG trash unrecognizable from any of its peers. It's god awful.

This game is a YES if you pay under 10$ for it.

Right out the gates it's seeming rogue-lite, but it really doesn't feel like it. The campaigns are forays that take around 7-10 hours to complete. You create 3 characters that have specializations, but are somewhat flexible in what you can have them do once you're in the campaign. On the surface the game doesn't do anything wrong and was really enjoyable for the first 10 hours, but after that you can really see the flimsy scaffold holding the experience together.

The system gives the allusion that you'll be able to take these classes and maybe do some interesting things outside the mold--like for instance, creating a Paladin type character that heals, taunts and soaks damage--however, the kind of perfect RNG you'd need to do so is baffling. On top of that the armors and weapons aren't truly dynamic or varied enough that you can really stray too far from the class archetypes.

It was fun to chase loot, but the pool is so small that you aren't really gonna have any surprises after you make it through the first playthrough.

In the end the combat is dull and punishing. You mostly smash the same button over and over. I likened it to early turn based games like Final Fantasy 1-4 or something, but it has no deep story to hold your attention or real nuances to the characters to allow for attachment. Every battle, even against normal enemies usually leaves you drained or poisoned or cursed. Combat only feels fun for the first few levels, when you don't have to full heal/cure/bless after every battle. There isn't that sweet spot where you ever really feel strong, you always feel like you're hanging on by a thread.

I feel mostly disappointed. Really wanted a game to sink my teeth into, but it just didn't have the depth I wanted. I tried to make it more than it was: It's a simple game, if you go in with no expectations you'll be pleasantly surprised, but it's a NO for me.

A super polished game with a fantastically written and acted story. The mechanics are really engaging. You are in a sandbox and the way you approach problems is almost endless. The game was challenging in the best way--hard enough to make you want to master it, but easy enough to feel like you're always making progress. Really enjoyed it. Couldn't recommend it more: 9.5/10 (Just wish the challenges were a smidge easier so I could 100% the game. Just don't have the patience to grind them.)

If you are a Dying Light fan you'll probably enjoy it. The landscape and art is amazing. So much detail in the world and the people. It feels like a real place. Art and visuals are a 10/10 for me.

The mechanics of the game are great, its not quite as intuitive and fun as the first game's combat system, but it adds more to it. Sometimes it feels like you are playing a fighting game tho--lots of button mashing. The game has lots of bugs and issues which could have been tied to multiplayer as that's how I beat it; lots of issues with progressing quests, issues with using your survivor sights. There are lots of really pointless changes made to DL2s systems that really will frustrate returning DL fans. The story is also a hot mess that makes no sense. Don't expect satisfying dialogue or any clear outcomes from your choices, everything is poorly presented and disappointing when it comes to the story.

The biggest roadblock for me was trying the fathom all the changes they made from the systems in DL1 to DL2. DL1 was a solid game with a great UI and easy to understand systems and mechanics. Lots of things feel changed for the sake of change itself and not for the better. Everything just feels off. Unfinished.

Overall, if you can get over the story, the trite dialogue/story and loads of weird choices the devs made to "update" the game from DL1, the game is fine. 7/10?

Really excellent concept. Good marriage of a survival game with rogue-like elements. Probably not for the survivalist purist nor the rogue-like purist, but if you enjoy both genres this game will definitely appeal to you.

The biggest sell of this game is that this is probably the most active and high functioning dev team I've ever seen on any title. There is a staggering amount of communication and fixes being pushed to address normal issues that effect the overall game play or QoL. In any other game I've played in the past, these things could be overlooked or unaddressed for months or years. I have full confidence that this dev team is not only super capable, but that will continue to support this title with dogged insistence as long as there is a community of players to provide feedback. Really admirable.

Only negative feedback I have is that the talent and tech trees are punishingly permanent. As of now there is no respec option and as you grow and learn the game your first character will be stuck with all the mistakes you made while learning. There are even some missions that force you to adopt certain tech just to complete them, which ultimately means that you have to waste skill points that you'll never get back. You don't even have a finalize option, where you move a few points around and take them back before exiting the menu--if you put a point in, its there, forever. Ultimately, you have to re-roll a new character to benefit from the learned errors you made before and keep shooting for that ultimate efficient build. However, this has also been a rewarding part of the process for me. It can be frustrating, but not something that takes away from the game in my opinion.

Really pretty game as well. Lots of the performance issues I had at launch have been addressed by patches and it runs relatively smooth especially considering the amount of textures and effects being loaded around you in the world; fire, light, water, leaves, all the bushes individual leaves, etc.

For this being a brand new title, with many years of content ahead of it, Icarus shines now and with time will only become more luminous. Def worth your time.
