11/16/2024: Broken dedicated server, wasted my entire weekend debugging the issue yet still couldn't get it working.

11/27/2024 Update: Ok, the server is "working", but its design is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. It first reports your IP:Port to playfab, then in the game it queries playfab to retrieve the IP:Port using the IP:Port you typed in. So you can't use 127.0.0.1 even if you are running the server on your PC cuz playfab doesn't have it, and this is the same for the port, the publicly exposed one has to be the exact same port set in the server config.... :/

11/21/2024: My friend's player data got corrupted after a network connection error during rocket landing, he could never join the save again.

Black Myth: Wukong excels as a Souls-like game, boasting beautiful environments and rich combat mechanics. However, it is not without flaws. While issues such as mediocre performance optimization and some questionable design choices in the action system are noticeable, the map design stands out as the biggest problem.

Despite its visually stunning and highly realistic scenes, the map design feels frustratingly poor. Unlike real-world spaces, maps in games should prioritize gameplay. A hallmark of Soulsborne games is the principle of "if you can see it, you can reach it." Even when this isn’t always feasible, most games provide clear guidance to direct players along the intended path.

Black Myth: Wukong, however, takes a different approach. Its map design is highly misleading, creating the illusion of an open world where players think they can explore freely. Yet many of these seemingly accessible paths are blocked by invisible barriers, making it feel like you should be able to proceed, but you can't. Over time, this not only disrupts the player's navigation but also causes unnecessary mental strain, ultimately detracting from the overall experience.

That said, despite the game’s immature and questionable design choices, Black Myth: Wukong still stands as a polished and high-quality entry in the Souls-like genre.
