I wanted to play this back when it was released but never had a powerful enough computer for it. Then i got it in some bundle i think, and forgot about it. I installed it recently to try it out finally.

Eh...

Firing magic feels really clunky the way the character fiddles with the spells and the slight lag because the spells shoot a split second after you press the button. This is really bad, but that's not all...

You're supposed to combine, improve and evolve spells, but the interface for doing so is so convoluted and horrible that it's hard to figure out what actually does what. Nothing of this is explained. And figuring this out is not my idea of fun. Especially when i have to wrestle with the interface. There's an "easy mode" but it just feels insulting and weak. And even then it asks you things "do you want to do X" without explaining what that will do.

And it's grindy. In the short time i've played it, you're supposed to go out of your way to do this big arena fights and really, it gets annoying.

The movement is clunky, idk how they managed that, but it's so bad.

The sotry is... Can't comment on that but, it's so weirdly told and then theres' this character that keeps appearing for like 30 seconds tops to tell you something and then literally disappears... I don't know...

If the combat was fun and responsive i might continue to play it, but i can't deal with bad combat, and a confusing magic system on top of that. Just meh...

Playable, but you really need to be desperate. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you want to, a 90%+ discount is a reasonable.

There's nothing else like it out there.
Very heavy thought provoking story and world, masterfully done!

It's good! Like you didn't know that already...

Just enough story to keep the shooting parts to become stale (or make it too obvious that you're in an arena shooter basically), and the shooting is top notch, fast, nimble and varied due to the light customisation options.

This game is amazing. Updated Dungeon Keeper feel with some fresh ideas, and the best part is - devs actively fixed a lot of issues long after the game was released, and was already "on its way out" so to speak. They took the time from their new project to take care of their game when there was nothing really to gain.
That's love and dedication!

Probably the best 2 euro i've spent.
Surprisingly deep for such a simple concept.
It's a joy!

UPDATE: There was so much content updates since i last reviewed this that it genuinely became a way better game than i could have imagined!

This needs to win game of the year, seriously! Such a breath of fresh air!

Fun game with good challenge, but the cheapest boss fight ever!

Spoilers:

During the game you can collect fireflies which serve as lives. You get enough from the get go, plus a bit more if you do optional rooms that are harder. But the last boss will take at least 2 of those without you having any say in it. The boss is a big angry cloud with hands. Hands move independently slowly, and you just dodge them.
But occasionally, he will spawn a hand right on top of you and kill you. You cannot dodge this. Then the game will not spawn you where you think it does, but next to some spikes that you will run into your first time. And lose a firefly just because.

And THEN on top of it all, you have to jump on his head gem thing, which is accessible via floating jump platforms that appear from time to time, but the platform goes from side to side up and down and if you miss it when it's near you then you WILL miss it because you're not fast enough to catch up to it. And you WILL miss it because you're dodging boss hands that will always be near you or above you when the platform is there for you to jump on. If you jump when the hands are near, you're not invulnerable - you will lose a firefly and spawn near the spikes.

Additionally, the hit detection on the jump platforms is one of the jankiest i ever saw. Sometimes you can perfectly line up a jump but your character will just go through it. Other times you're nowhere near, but are catapulted into the air. But sometimes you are catapulted not high enough to reach the gem. What even are the rules here i do not understand but it makes for a frustrating experience that ruins what is up to that point a solid jumping platformer that has never had those issues up until the very end.

In short, the last boss uses entirely different rules than the whole game teaches and ruins what is otherwise a good game up to that point.

Still... Just as the last boss is janky, so is this recomendation. It's free so i'll give it a pass, but prepare to be frustrated.

Although this game is free, it has a lot of potential for a bigger release.

Beautifully made art style, clever puzzle idea and good puzzles that guide the player from easy to more complex solutions, introducing new types of sheep seamlessly into the gameplay. Some better communication to the player would be nice though. At certain points, you're told to "press right mouse button". You press it and nothing happens. You're supposed to press it on the sheep (when you get a new one), but that was kinda vague. There's also another vague mechanic later that i don't want to spoil. But nothing that would impact the enjoyment of the game! Just minor fixable things.

The game is simple, short and sweet. I completed it in about an hour and a half. So it doesn't overstay its welcome.
But as such, it doesn't really have saves. So you'll have to go through it in one sitting. So reserve an hour or two for the game and enjoy.

Great art style short game. Not much to say about it other than treat yourself to a playthrough or two. Good atmospehere!
The graphic options are atrocious though, anything above "medium" yields 8 FPS and even medium is unplayable for me. This game is more demanding than AAA titles. Not even Nvidia RTX 2080 TI is going to save you from bad optimisation. There is no discernable difference between "medium" and "cinematic" though so just put the options to where it doesn't stutter and enjoy the game.

Well this is a new one. Kind of...

An atmospheric procedurally generated rogue-like platformer without obstacles or fail states.

It's surprisingly "zen" for what it is. There's no fail state, you just go around and platform around the world and NOTHING will ever be explained to you.

The music is of course, atmospheric. Could be better if i'm honest, it's kind of getting on my nerves, it's too "present". Too much in the foreground for an atmospheric piece. So it's kind of having a "counter zen" effect. Maybe it's just me. But you can turn it off and play whatever you like over it, it definitely doesn't matter.

Which is probably for the better. Since there's nothing to do in the game besides endless platforming, you can amuse yourself by discovering the game's mechanics. So far, i'm thinking you get XP and level up with touching various items in the world, you can i guess rescue wisps that float around you for a while then, each giving you a new platforming ability as long as they're following you. Why they "dissapear" is anyone's guess, maybe they time out or whatever. I also have no idea what leveling up does besides allowing you to take higher level wisps with you. All wisps have a level requirement.

So it's an endless grind to achieve nothing basically.

There's some achievements to get, but besides that, it's i think meant to be a quick fire up game that you unwind to.
